Hi there.....wondering if you could help
Looking for 5 star accommodation in the island. Cost is not really a problem and I was hoping some of you folk could give me a few ideas.
Another point and this is me probably being stupid (as usual). When a brochure states that a room has satellite tv.....is this English speaking channels.
Thanks very much
Ta Cenc
San Lawrenz
what are you after ? These two are quite different
Ta Cenc - laid back, very quiet
San Lawrenz - part of Kempinski group, very efficient (for Gozo), showing its German links, proper 5 star

satellite TV - not stupid at all - there will be English speaking channels, as well as many other languages - also cable TV here - I think Ta Cenc is only cable, while San Lawrenz I'm sure has satellite, but probably German biased. Don't take this the wrong way, but if satellite TV is a big concern, then Ta Cenc (and Gozo) may not be what you are looking for !

The Hilton in St Julians is probably the best Hotel at the moment.
Also close by check out the Westin (pretty good but worn around the edges) and the Intercontinental (very good as long as you get a club room with sea views). The Radisson Bay Point is also near (but is a bit ropy for its 5 stars).
Brand new 5 Star Luxury Radisson Golden Bay opening in August (we are already booked in to try this). They tell us that it will be the best hotel in Malta (but they would!) http://www.islandhotels.com
The Pheonicia in Valetta (old style tie for dinner kind of place).
A new Meridien has opened recently also in St Julians but we have not yet used this hotel.
Hope this is of help.
I have had a look at this new hotel on its website it looks to be very good, but is it like its sister hotel the Coastline a nice hotel just in the middle of no where, its all right saying its only a ten minute drive to St Pauls Bay but who wants to drive back when you have had a meal and a few pints of Cisk?
Philtucker, you mention that the Radisosn SAS Bay Point is a bit ropy....not too sure what you mean by this but the property has just completed a £1.3Million refurb program. With regards to the New Radisson SAS Golden Sands, this will be the best hotel in Malta...you really need to see it in person to appreciate the infinate luxury that is being put into this hotel, just as an example the averge size of the rooms is 68 Sq Meters compared to the standard 33-38Sq meters you will find in all other 5 star hotels in Malta, Private Sandy beach (Only hotel in Malta with one) 800sq meter SPA, 90meter lagoon pool and views that are simply breathtaking. If the isolated location bothers you, why not go All Inclusive?? Thrown in with the AI is two days car hire too, this you can book through Malta Direct if it helps.
When I said that the Bay Point was a bit "ropey" I meant it. I have not though been to the Bay Point since last February and was unaware that it had a re-fit. I will visit it and see for myself in August when we next visit Malta.
We are already booked into the Golden Bay.
Hi Phil, I don't know if you know or not but Bugibba HC is Trevor Zahra a director of the company that owns the Bay Point, just thought that you should know this.
Which hotels to stay in is always an emotive subject and very much down to personal likes and dislikes. I don't pretend to know everything about Malta (or anything like it) but we do visit every year whether for a main holiday or a short break.
My wifes best friend is Maltese and so we do experience Malta in a way that many people don't.
We visited the Bay Point last year with a view to staying this year. It was very nice but the rooms particularly were very worn and much in need of being refurbished. It was not even close in standard to being 5 star. If they have refurbished the hotel then we will look at it again.
If visiting the Bay Point this year, feel free to ask for me and I will be more than happy to show you around myself.
Regards
Trevor
hey bugibba HC, just a thought , but I dont suppose this swanky new hotel of yours has a salon requiring a talented, enthusiastic, friendly but ever so slightly desperate hairdresser looking for work from September? or if push comes to shove- a cleaner!!!
How's things?
Don't know if you are aware of the Job Centre site
http://www.etc.gov.mt/site/page.aspx?pageid=2002
There is also a private owned employment agency
http://www.vacancycentre.com/start.htm
Might be a long shot but you could send an e-mail to this company
cutcoiffeur@global.net.mt They have 3 very popular salons Sliema, Swieqi and Bay Street, always busy - they might need a talented overseas trained person like yourself
Have you thought about opening your own salon? or mobile hairdresser?
If I see anything in the newspapers I will let you know. Best of luck, I am sure you will find something.
Hi Sarah,
Yes Inglizi I thought about mobile etc and will prob give that a go to begin with as for a start I have 3 kids to settle into school so dont want to be out until 7pm and also nick will be trying for a job in graphic design and his work will come before mine so I will sort everyone else out first and then get a 'proper' job I think.
I also do beauty therapy and nails so hopefully we know enough people in M'lokk to advertise me a bit to begin with?
Dont forget I mean it about the free treatment!!
THANKS AGAIN GUYS!!!!!
http://www.mhcsmalta.com - they have job vacancy listings and the staff chat live with you to answer any of your questions you may have.
Another interesting site whoever is thinking of relocating to Malta and trying to find work is I'm sure our members will be grateful for any assistance you can give them but please do not use the site just to plug the website.
Thank You.
