I'm trying to inject some life into the forum - it's so quiet here! C'mon HTers!
I usually start to scour the charity shops for my holiday reading material about now. My wife is being given the 50 Shades of Grey books by a friend and will be taking them to Goa in January. I guess there will be lots of other ladies doing the same.
Two questions - will we scantily clad men be safe on the beach when all the ladie's heads are full of whips and handcuffs and stuff? I think I will be but I live in hope!
Secondly - anybody got ideas for good holiday reading? What will you be taking?
ones I am specifically saving for my hols are. Lee Childs last two releases, The last two books in the Outlander series by Diana Gabledon, I love travel books and keep downloading free ones or cheapies from Amazon and have a load of these ready to read nice easy reading perfect for the beach!
Why there is talk about making it into a move, I've no idea.
Give me a mystery or a thriller any day. I went back to my Jack Reacher like a shot. Currently reading The Affair on Kindle and have the next one lined up already.
All Free downloads too!
Dont worry the men will be safe.
Have to agree about the 50 shades books I downloaded them too for free and I am so pleased I didn't pay for them. A load hype but guess its made the author a pretty penny!!
So right! I got up to page 114 and had counted 14 'I bit my lip' - ditched it and started reading The Backpacker by John Harris - bit like The Beach only supposed to be true. I've also downloaded Goa Traffic by Marissa de Luna for just over £1 to my iPhone.
Thing is you can alway imagine your there in Goa when reading it....better than imaging being with Mr Grey lol couldn't stand the pain;)
@ Nejulie. I'm only reading it while standing in queues in bank/shops/airports at moment LOL! Yes not sure I'd buy the book but for £1.12 download it serves it's purpose - easy read (I've only got to the bit where she's gone clubbing with them )..and you're right you can visualise exactly where they are/the smells etc of Goa.
I've just finished reading this one which I enjoyed:-
bookmarked thanks Glynis!
I might get this at the airport later this week for my holiday read.

Bobbins is giving Goa a miss this year - he got fed up with the muck and nonsense that is so much a part of Goa - he's off on a music tour of America.
On the literary front, I bought (at full price, I might add!) "Behind the Beautiful Forevers" by Katherine Boo. It's an account of three years in Mumbai by an American author. I'm saving it so I can read it in Goa - I think that always adds something to books on India.

I get a few from here http://www.ereaderiq.co.uk/free/ but I mainly use a torrent download site.
PM me if you want me to send you a list of books I have already in the right format for Kindle.
I actually bought this in Tesco before I knew what it was about, but havent bothered to read it as everyone has said it is a load of poo. Have been reading all the Phillipa Gregory books though on recent holidays, am sticking to the Tudor Court ones, although I am not sure they would do for anyone who is into histroical accuracy.
I only use Amazon to download books and I only pick the free ones I even typed in free books into my Kindle when in Malta and downloaded some whilst laid in bed

Cypress yes i use ereaderiq already and get emails daily telling me whats on offer... its great, but latest (popular) books dont come up free very often, thanks
