For March you're going to need to consider a 4-5½ hour flight. Egypt or the Canary Islands are popular - Fuerteventura has some fantastic beaches (Corralejo or Jandia); Cape Verde has some beautiful beaches but is very "new" and quiet.

It has to be Egypt - not too long a flight, most are all inclusive hotels, and brilliant. Been for the last 3 years (going back next in 2009) always in the middle of summer, and I hear it is hot all year round - I know they say it is very hot in the summer, and it is, and my husband can't stand too much heat, but in Egypt if you sit under the parasols (and every hotel has an abundance of) you are absolutely fine, just don't be silly and sit out the heat 24/7, just not worth it.
