I have found that i can take a week off in july, very set dates as we have to work around when husband works saturdays, and me being sent away on courses with work. we can travel from sunday 6th july and have to be back in uk by 13th july. I thought I would just go for trusty old turkey . I know what to expect and we can have a week chiling in the sun.
Unfortunately I cant find flights, have tried stansted, luton, norwich, east midlands and birmingham, everything comes back early hours of monday 14th when I need to be at work
So have looked around and considered the algarve, I have never been and will do my research on this site as much as I can.
My problem is this: we dont really go to places where the Euro is used generally so had no idea the exchange rate was so bad, what are peoples views about holiday costs there? I havent booked anything yet, am planning on booking a deal about 4 weeks before. Do you think that the falling Pound against the Euro will put people off, therefore cheap packages to be had?
I know it's not a science but would appreciate your views
hugs la x
the pound / euro is not the only bad rate.. due in part to the low interest rates in the UK the exchange rate is poor against most holiday currencies
Not that it's my cup of tea, but I think AI is probably the best way to go now.
Of all the Eurozone resorts the Algarve is supposed to offer the best in terms of value for money in eating and drinking out, don't know if that helps. Two course meals for four about 70 Euros, with a litre of sangria, soft drinks and water, that was in Lagos. Decent food steaks, chicken, fish etc not spag bol & pizza.
Don't worry about it, for a weeks hols it will work out about £30 pp more on spending money. If getting a late deal, you will have probably saved quite a bit anyway.
