Got a call today from friend in Goa asking me to take (what sounded like) a Tie Ball for her grandson
could be Thai Ball, Tye Ball etc.
Evidentally they are advertised on the TV there but she is unable to find one in Panjim/Mapusa and thought that I may be able to get one here.
Does anyone have any idea what on earth they are?
del Get the person to tx you and that way you might know better what they are talking about ...colleen
she is supposed to be doing that, but as we go in 8 days it doesn't leave much time for me to locate it,,,,whatever it is!

They are used for tying off the end of ropes on boats or for making sure that a rope floats in the water but he'd probably need more than one!
Alternatively TY is a well known toy brand - I've come across them mainly for their soft toys which my nieces loved when they were little but perhaps it's a particular type of ball they make?
But given this is India, is there any chance that it's a brand of cricket ball? There have ben a number of well know cricketers over the years with the surname Tye - perhaps one has a ball named after him in some sort of sponsorship/endorsement deal?

If it is for Grandson then maybe one of those things we had as a kid - a ball was tied to a long piece of elastic which in turn was fastened to a pole - we hit it in turns with a table tennis like bat. Think we called then Jakori or similar.
Waterproof is talking about swingball:-
Don't think the boating idea "floats" :), think he is only at primary school .
i will check the others out
I don't think it will be a swing ball although I did consider the pld fashioned cup and ball idea.
certainly not taking a swing ball!!!!
Many thanks to all for replies.......if the goan lady was as efficient I wouldn't be having this problem.
