I can highly recommend Bitez which is only 50 mins away from Bodrum. If you put in a search for Bitez on this site (above) you will find lots of excellent reports to back me up. We stay at the Manuela hotel which is on the beach and really reasonable too. They have a website too that will show you a few photos etc. It easy to book online and you don't even have to pay until you arrive. There are plenty of tour operaters going to Bitez now, First choice, Kosmar being a couple I can think of.
Gumbet is also one bay away but for me personally is too busy & noisy but then again as it is so near you can always visit easily if you fancy a lively evening or if you have teenagers it is quite safe for them to do so and you don't have to suffer it all day and night. Although Bitez is chilled it is so friendly, has a great atmosphere and is lined with lots of lovely restaurants to choose from.
Happy hunting, Mel.

Thanks Mel, will take a look at Bitez. Been to Turkey once before and loved our stay in Gumbet. Might decide to go back there. There are only myself and my husband as our two sons go their own way these days.

we'll be flying from Bristol or Cardiff and believe that flights from here to Turkey only go to Bodrum airport. Thanks

Thanks nuttynet. I suppose it depends on what TO you use. Which operaters fly where please?

Goldtrail is the company we have gone with this year, twice to Marmaris. Flew from Cardiff to Bodrum and also to Dalaman. The flights this year were on Wednesdays.

Already booked for next May with Goldtrail again, and they are flying to both Bodrum and Dalaman, flights are Monday next year.

Hope this helps.

Hi Mary, how long were the transfers to Mamaris?

Transfers from Dalaman to Marmaris are about 1 and 3/4 hours, and from Bodrum its nearly 2 and a half hours. There is a 15 minute comfort stop when you transfer using the tour operators bus. You are ready for it anyway.
