We have never been to Portugal before and we are hoping to get a weeks visit at the end of July/beginning of August time. Can anyone advise as the best resort to go that is not too far a transfer from the airport as the boy tends to get travel sick going by bus/car especially when dropping off at every hotel along the way. Would we be better off transferring by taxi to somehwere, say half an hour max drive?
Any suggestions very much appreciated. ( PS, we would be flying from Donny so i think we are limited to thomsons)

A 30 minute taxi transfer would get you as far as Tavira to the east or Albufeira to the west.
Alternatively a 10 minute taxi ride would get you to Faro railway station and, provided your lad doesn't suffer from travel sickness on the train, the railway goes as far as Lagos in the western Algarve.

P.S. It's as well to note that the railway doesn't serve all resorts along the coast - it goes inland of many of them and they have to be reached by bus or taxi.

Even better would be a 10/15 min drive to the exclusive resorts of Vale do Lobo and Quinta do lago. If money not too tight then you really need to go here
Vilamoura is only abour 25mins away from the airport
