A colleague at work also booked to go to the same place with Airtours but arriving the week after us. Yesterday he received a letter advising him that "due to contractual reasons, they are no longer able to provide them with The Fountains Resort" and have offered him the Tuscana Resort in Kissimmee.
As yet we have had no notification from Airtours about this and I've spoken to my travel agents today and they have had nothing either, but when they tried to look at our booking on their system it wouldn't let them in and advised them to contact the help desk. Unfortunately due to the pig flu problems it is impossible to speak to anyone at Thomas Cook!
Has anyone else been informed of this issue? I did notice that The Fountains was missing from Airtours 2009 online brochure a couple of weeks ago but presumed this was because they had no vacancies or something similar.
As for the offer of the Tuscana, although it looks very nice it appears to be in the middle of nowhere just of I4. The reason we picked The Fountains was 1) It looked superb and 2) It's location.
Having been to Florida 3 times previously, and being the only driver, I wanted to be able to use the I-Ride on an evening when going out for a meal and be able to have a few beers and I also wanted to spend a couple of evenings at Universal Citywalk and again not have to drive. To do these things at the Tuscana will involve either me driving or paying out for taxis.
Only time will tell if we are going to be affected - but in the meantime if anyone can shed some light on the subject I would be grateful.
