We go to Praia do Vau which is inbetween Alvor and Praia da Rocha .There are places there both of which I can recommend 1.is Coral do Vau apartments which you can book accomodation only through Style Holidays the other is Jardim do Vau this you can book through Algarve Select both have a web site.They are both right by the beach .There are only about 4 restaurants and a couple of bars in Vau but there is a bus which will take you directly into Rocha and Portimao and the Taxis are very reasonable my husband has arthritis and cannot walk too far and we find it ok.Hope this helps
