i use alpharooms/travelrepublic/findmeaccom and all have been reasonable for me.

The last 2 companies I used have both gone bump so I won't be making any recommendations whatsoever

i know that feeling.
i recommended xcapewithus to others as i'd used them 4 times and then got caught out myself when they went bust. almost got caught by go2spain as well.
i was fortunate that i'd booked with a CC and so got a refund straight away and even got rebooked at a better deal for same accomodation.
i think you can only call it as you see it.
i have used these 3 firms at some stage over the last 3 years and all have been fine.
