Not sure how well you know North Goa but there are lots of small guest houses / hotels around the Baga Road area, most of them are in the little side lanes and can be well hidden but if you ask around you'll be sure to find something. Lots of building work has gone on over monsoon so there are loads of small places recently opened.
Hope this is helpful,

You dont know of any 2 bed accommodation in Candolim by any chance?
Sorry can't help much with Candolim (not my neck of the woods) but I'm sure there are lots of people on here who'll be able to help out.

thanks for the reply gff. In my experience it's better to get taxi driver , rather than myself to haggle for prices(unless it's changed?). wondered what the going rate for a basic A/C room with B & b was?
Prices are definitely on the up over here I suppose you'd be looking at anything from 800 plus per night for an a/c room with breakfast in the Baga/Calangute area - I stay long term so obviously can't be 100% sure on prices for a couple of weeks.
Getting your taxi driver to haggle is an option but don't forget he'll want his comission.
Have a search on the net for the following - I can't recommend any of them because I've never stayed in them but it'll give you an idea of what you're up against.
Alidia Beach Cottages
Hacienda Hotel
Joanita's Guest House
Desmond Martins Guest House
Sun Park Resort
Molly Malones
The Crossroads
Hope you get something sorted, GFF xx
Try Casa Seashell, HBR or Pretty Petals in Candolim. There are loads of places to choose from - you should be able to get somewhere.
The Coquerail
Jo's Ponda Rosa (of TV fame)
Avie Maria
Pretty Petals .....and many more - I can't remember them all.
If all else fails - stop the car at the "Yorkshireman" sign; walk to the beach and ask at Bono's shack. Bono rents out his own house, his sister Virginia rents rooms in her house and his brother Luis has a small guesthouse, and they are all in the same area.
Just come back and round the corner from Casa Sea Shell towards the sea on the rd signed to Xaviers / Casablanca and next to the cake shop I notice a very new guesthouse that looked very nice and comfortable. They were advertising rooms to let - did try and have a look in but there was no-one there.
The best way to find it is to go along the road opposite Subway on the Baga road then it's a bit further up on the right. It's not well signposted which would account for why it was so quiet.
I don't know how much he is charging but you could ask at the shack.
enquired at Casa Sea Shells last year for possibly having a diy this year
If your South at all have a look on
