Hi
I am new here and would like some advice on where to buy a campervan in Europe. I'd like to buy a new campervan and just wonder whether they can be bought duty free in Europe and which country is the best to buy from. The type of van I am interested in is something in the style of the VW Eurovan.
Thanks in advance
Gosh what a question
answers OK
1/ whatever you get you need to have to UK spec and have paid tax on it duty free Will only mean C&E will savage you at the docks
2/ look round the UK Dealers first find some layouts you could live with
3/ then web search and magazine Continental dealers for prices don't forget Italy especially they love campervans as do the French
Good luck

Thanks for your advice madcaravanner. I live in Melbourne, Oz, so I definitely will not be bringing the campervan back to the UK. I was hoping to buy new or near new (Left Hand Drive) in Europe without having to pay duty, then sell the campervan when I finished a tour which may last 4 to 6 months. This long tour is what makes renting impractical.
AH
There was me not relising youo were Antipodean
Still the same you may not get duty Free but you could find a dealer wiling to do a buy back lease
As I said before the biggest users of Campers are the French and Italians
BTW teh French call them Camping Cars and htey have a huge network of stop-overs where a Camping Car can pull over for the night FREE although with the increase of gassing incidents I don't know what effect these are having on their use

The gas used is Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas) it has a very short pharmacological half life and dissipates very rapidly so it is difficult in open situations to deliver enough to kill but to drug it is relatively easy
It is also very easy to obtain doesn't need any form of licence anyway
It is a serious problem in the South of France but less so in Spain
A group of us (5 vans not convoying or anything just ended up at the same place) got a Police guard year before last when we had to stop on an Autoroute service area (manned) we had three Police cars with us all night
