I have downloaded & read Ros Fernihough's booklet but am still not sure what this means in terms of protection against cancellation of a holiday if a firm goes bust.
To explain: I usually book through T.Cook or Thomson but unfortunately the hotel I have stayed at for the past 7 years is no longer available through them or sister companies. I have tried booking separate flights & the hotel direct but it totals double the price & is unaffordable.
However, I have come across A1 Travel who offer flights with T.Cook and accommodation in the usual hotel. I have read reviews on here but want to know:
Are they a travel agent or tour operator? In this unsteady time of travel businesses going bust are they a secure enough company? Their website states they are ABTA & ATOL registered; does this mean if they go bust I will get a full refund or is that only the case if I pay by credit card?
Thankyou.
agents for some Tour Operators.
Any package holidays booked direct through them with a Tour Operator are subject to the tour operators booking conditions. However, Chadwell Travel are ABTA bonded and as such it suggests you would be protected.
However, with regards to flight only bookings, I read it as they could book flights for you with a company who may not be ATOL or ABTA protected, and that you should check with Abta to see if they are registered ?
Hopefully someone else can explain it simpler lol.
