I've never come across one showing restaurants etc but there are plenty around. L'Escargot opposite the El Hana has a good reputation, as does Bonapartes opposite the Tej Marhaba. If you want a steak The Saloon is highly recommended. There is an Indian restaurant whose name escapes me just past the Hotel Tour Khalef. Restaurants and snack bars usually have a menu outside so you will get an idea of what's available and the prices. The Metro and train and bus stations are down by the port and The Soula Centre (large fixed-price shop) is down that way as well (toilet on top floor through carpet department :wink:) Go into PEK and sit by the Marina people-watching for a nice change.

If you are going to eat Tunisian food there are many good places. You will find many prices are "tourist hiked" but it is still reasonable. If you want "English" food then the big hotels will give you the best choice.
A very nice place to eat is Le Gourmet, owned by a Russian family but with Tunisian chef and waiters, they do a set 3 course for less than 20TD for 2 people. You will find many places to eat opposite the Medina many of the mains there will be 5.5TD with starters around 2.5TD. Le Gourmet is between here and the beach on the left hand side after the shops. A nice place for a coffee is at the very top of the Medina, they have a terrace which over-looks virtually the whole town.
I think Aslemma has put a map on here at some time, you'll maybe find it if you look back at some posts, as Sousse is her second home I'm sure she'll be along soon with some advice.

For a map with the extra info WH Smiths and other good retailers sell Rough guides or similar whch have town maps in showing the info for several of each, hotels, cafes etc

Yes Kevin, I beat you!! I haven't tried Le Gourmet but I'll do so in September. I wish I'd had all this advice when I first visited Sousse, but I still managed to get by, though often had to get a taxi back to my hotel because I got lost snd I can still get lost in the Medina.

Thanks for the info Aslemma and Kevinrbeech will make a note of all of it yes Aslemma I have printed off the map you told me about it is just I like to have an idea of which way to go don't mind getting lost now and again we intend to try the Tunisian food as we always do where ever we go, will make a note of everything you have told me.

Hi Aslemma & Kevinrbeech just wondering if you have any idea of the distance from The Rhiad Palms Hotel or the Coralia Hotel to the Royal Beach Hotel I have found an interactive map of Sousse on a website called roamearth.com and it shows both these hotels but not the Royal Beach and just want to get an idea where it would be located.

Ha ha ha, I take it you didn't look at my pics. You won't see many hotels in them.
I only visit tourist resorts to break up a long journey, stayed in the Hotel Zohra which is a tiny place, it is more of a stop-over than a holiday hotel, it is used by the Danes. So, sorry, I have no idea about distances between the main ones.

I have a feeling he hasn't looked at the map either or he would have seen the Riadh Palms is just round the corner to the Royal Beach, although admittedly the Coralia isn't shown. If you get lost just ask anyone or failing that jump in a taxi - there are hundreds around who are desperate for your custom.

I have looked at the map but seeing as there is no scale to the map there was no knowing how far it was from Rhiad Palms to The Royal Beach 100yards or a 1000yards I have found it on the interactive map now so know exactly where it is thanks anyway.
