Please check their T&C's to which you agreed when booking the flights:

From what I can read, there is not a lot you can do about it.

Is there anyway your party can hire a minibus and travel from/to Dublin rather than miss the holiday Chris?

Hi,

I'm not sure where you are based but if it's south of Manchester it might be worth trying to get Aer Lingus to transfer you onto the Birmingham-Cork route instead because they do still seem to be running this after the 5th of June. They've obviously not pulled out of Cork altogether.

thanks but the birmingham - cork isn't going the days we want to go.

Hi

Not sure if this is any help but if you could get a full refund Bmi Baby have a Manchester to Cork route.

They have offered you a refund, take it and look for an alternative. I doubt complaining will resolve the matter as I can't see the airline rescheduling just for you.

I would suggest that you remind them of your rights http://europa.eu.int/eur-lex/pri/en/oj/dat/2004/l_046/l_04620040217en00010007.pdf

Article 8 applies by dint of Article 5. You are entitled to a re-route if you prefer this to a refund. Research some alternative routes (Expedia, skyscanner, etc) and put these to the airline. Tell them that you will report them to ATUC if they deny you your rights.

Good luck.

Ah Yes, Yes, Yes . . . (reducing to a whisper) yes.

We are told that there is nothing worse than a monopoly (Aer Lingus had virtual monopoly of all Irish destinations for years).

Then Ryanair moves in and really challegenges Aer Lingus on Irish - UK routes. These two are the main competitors and BMIbaby being a small (almost negligable) competitor.

There is only one thing worse than a monopoly i.e a duopoly (2 companies that get together and divide the spoils between themselves and throw the minor competitor(s) to the lions.

So it is with Ryanair and Aer Lingus. Aer Lingus is ceasing several routes from Cork during summer of 2007 even some routes that are quite profitable (Cork - Alicante for example). Easyjet has already abandoned Cork from Gatwick.

But, as in all low-price flights booked there is small print and no doubt Aer Lingus (as do Ryanair and others) can clutch at small print like a drowning person clutching a straw.

Sorry, but all you can do is take it on the chin.

Hey Wickedchris

Just had a brainwave - Ryanair serve Cork from Dublin and vice versa and are fairly cheap on fares. Go for it.
