2 adults early 30's spending 1 week end Aug in NE RHodes. Looking for good base for exploring Rhodes Town, waterpark & Lindos Acropolis with good choice of decent restaurants, close to sandy beach. Not into clubbing but don't want somewhere too quiet either.
Choices probably between outskirts of Faliraki or Afandou.
Afandou appeals because
- it's more traditional
it sounds like it will have nicer places to eat than Faliraki,
the hotels might not be full of clubbers
plus it's only 5km away from Faliraki
Does it have a lot of decent restaurants?
Is it lively but not mad like Faliraki?
Is there a bus to Faliraki, how much does it cost & how long does it take?
What about taxis?
Is the beach at Afandou very pebbly or is mainly sand with a few pebbles?
However Faliraki
- has sandy beach within walking distance
lots of places to eat, although not sure about quality
good central location
lots more hotels to choose from & slightly cheaper
Am just concerned that it will still be extremely busy and the hotels nearby will have clubbers coming home at silly hours in the morning.
Please can anyone give me more advice.
