Hi,
Chatting to my mother in law yesterday about our holidays and how we land at Gatwick just gone midnight with a long drive back home. She suggested we look at booking a hotel with parking for when we arrive back, rather than staying the night before you fly like usual.(We don't need to stay over the night before we drive as flight is mid afternoon).
Does anyone know if it is possible to park at a hotel but with the night staying there to be on the return not the night before we fly?
Thought I would ask for advice off you guys before having to contact hotels directly!!
Yes we've done this once at Glasgow. The outward flights were OK times, but we needed a hotel for the return and booked a hotel with parking.
We've done it with nearly every holiday we've taken. The flights out have been fine but return flights have been late flights. You just tell them you want your nights stay on your return when you drop your car off with them. We always use Holiday Inn Express at Glasgow Airport and have had no problems (so far). You also get a lovely continental breakfast with them. There are lots of other hotels that offer this, just check that your car is going to be parked in a secure car park and not left in the Hotel car park (which some do). Holiday Extras is a good site and has some of the best prices.
Did this at the Hilton Gatwick a few years ago. Ended up being a short stay as the flight was delayed five hours so we were only in the room 3 hours!
Davey, you've just reminded me of our long delay returning from Corfu a couple of years ago, we booked hotel coming back but as our flight was delayed we eventually arrived at the hotel at 11.30 a.m., just in time to pay for the night we didn't stay. Ended up getting in the car and driving home, its a pity hotels don't provide rooms for a just a few hours to get your head down before travelling home.
Hi,We have done this a few times always book through Holiday Extras and stayed at Ramada Plaza near Gatwick.
Agree with Shazzacat about Holidayextras. However this year I've just googled " airport accommodation in" - wherever - and we've got a room with parking for £45.
