I've been doing this journey since 1998. I have noticed a considerable improvement on this road. There has been continual upgrading and road management measures. The road is almost unrecognisable from all these years ago. There are still bits where you can see quite steep drops but then again we see this on our own roads. One other thing too is that I firmly believe that the standard of drivers on the transfer buses is so much better and don't treat the road as a race track.

The only scary part is as you come down from the mountain into Marmaris a 1 km stretch of all Downhill from the mountain, As it's just not possible to upgrade that part of the road, Everywhere else is perfect, But really your not looking at anything else but marmaris, Dont worry have a nice time.

I had also heard about the journey from Dalaman to Marmaris before I went in July but as stated you have nothing to worry about. The journey was fine. The coach was excellent as was the driver and the downhill part from the mountain was done at a slow speed. Enjoy your holiday.

We went to Turunc last year and that was a bit of a scary ride, I was holding on to my children as we went round those bends up and down the mountain and my 4 year old was sick when we got to the apartment 
The roads are improving all the time. They have been widening them for a while now. The drivers are pretty good too. In all the times we have been going we have seen very few road accidents.
It's the 'comfort stop' we don't like. After the flight we just want to get there! It's about 90 minutes as it is without further delays.

We will be doing the same coach trip on monday... wahoooooooooooooooo!!! 3 more sleeps!!! It isn't scary, it can get a bit wobbly if the driver is going fast but it's fine!
Now ask about Cuba and OMG that is scary!!!

It used to be scary a few years ago but, as has been previously stated, the roads have improved dramatically. And, as you take that last bend at the top of the mountain road and get your first view of Marmaris, it all seems worthwhile 
Years ago it was quite daunting as for a start any old driver straight off the tractor could turn up to drive a coach .Now they have to go through strict tests both with the transfer companies and the tour operators ,that and the fact the roads are getting better all the time makes it a whole lot better. Samsue 123 ,dont worry be happy ,enjoy your holiday ,this time next month you will me a marmaris vet.

Its not too bad. What i dont like is the way they use the middle lane for overtaking, both sides of traffic i mean. It can get a bit hair raising at times but i always calm myself with the fact the Turkish drivers are obviously used to this style of driving.

well i booked proper cars, for my gumbet transfer for the 4 of us.
And i couldn't fault them, booking by e-mail was real easy.
they were there when we landed, and nice bus with nice driver.
Return journey, driver was there bang on time, smooth transfer.
both drivers helped us with our luggage.

HI same here wickedchris I booked with Proper cars the driver was standing when i landed with my name on a card got a bit lost in Bitez finding my Hotel. Return journey very good on time.

Beware of Hamish Mc Turk transfer
I booked via e-mail for private transfer to Olu 26th Sept after reading
favourable reports,I even had them confirm (so I could print it off) that
this was a PRIVATE transfer,
Yes, you guessed it,the driver wanted to just drop off..........
and could not understand that I had ordered and was going to pay for a
private transfer,
We ended up in a mini bus ,with the driver sarcastically asking if we had
enough room.
I paid for one way transfer and called at the office in Hisaronu to cancel
return journey.The guy on the desk said they get busy,he couldn't
understand the word private either,

hey i used rainrentacar.com and they were excellent even when my flight was late!only £10 i booked normal transfer in minibus cos cheaper!they had name sign held up and waiting for me,cant fault them at all!my friend recommended them to me cos she used them and as she was only one tehy took her by rain car and it was cosier plus a bonus still only £10,defo worth a look!x
