We booked our honeymoon with First Choice in a year before we travelled. Two weeks before the wedding we went onto the hotel website only to find out the hotel was closed. We rang and informed first choice they said it wasn't, but rang back two days later to say it was. They also told us they could not reallocate us for a week. We said this was not good enough as we were due to get married and damanded they had a hotel for us by monday (it was friday) On Monday they gave us another hotel but told us we had to pay £100 extra for it, as we just wanted to make sure we had a honeymoon so we could concerntrate on the wedding we agreed. Although it was in a different area to what we wanted and in a different hotel. However they had booked it through Airtours.
When the holiday started, the flights were awful and when we got to the hotel it was disgusting. There was mold on the walls and bedding. There was building work being carried out and a couple of the resturants were closed (it was all inclusive). We complained and were told there was nothing the rep could do and to complain on return to the UK. To cut a long story shorter.
We have complained since sept 05. We wrote to both FC and AT and have had no reply from FC and a couple of letters from AT. They have offered us a voucher, which we refused and have now offered us £300. BUT we do not feel satisfied with this considering it was our honeymoon. Yet they have now not replied to us!! Does anyone have any advice about where to go from here?? Sorry to go on a bit. Thanks

I have a phone number to get you through to FC's customer service without going via the "press button 6" nonsense.
also try sending all correspondance to ABTA amd ask their advice. i did this for my august 05 holiday and abta wrote to my travel and within days i was offered double the amount of compensation that they had already offered me. print a form on abta web site and you put how much compenstation you want and all your details and send with everything you have. as i said it worked for me. good luck
Did you complain whilst at the resort with the FC rep
Where did you go
We used FC in 2004, we went to Bulgaria. Our holiday had been booked 11 months in advance and when we arrived at the airport were told that the hotel have overbooked us.
To cut a long story short, we were 10km away from the resort
We rung home to the travel agent back in the UK, complained to rep at resort, sent numerous letters to FC, they offered us a pitiful £200.00 for the four of us
We pursued via ABTA and finally we were offered £500.00
