I can tell you that the little train runs every 20 minutes from almost outside Cerro Alagoa over to the strip and it costs €2 for one ride and €3 all day. In July it runs until 3am. The timetable is posted clearly at the stop.

Weatherwise July will be well up into the 80's F and dry.

Enjoy.

Thanks a million guys.
Can you still enjoy a 2 week holiday on the beach & staying around the old town only. Is the strip okay to visit during the day. Should we keep away at night.

You can definately enjoy 2 weeks in and around the old town but I wouldn't say avoid the strip at night.

We venture there a couple of times during our holidays with 2 young kids and never found it a problem.
The taxi rank is located 2 mins from the Cerro Alagoa and cost us 3.25 euros to get to the strip.

There are 2 waterparks and zoomarine and tickets can be purchased at discounted rates from the Modelo supermarket which is next to the Brisa Sol hotel next to CA.

Is the Modelo Shopping centre near my hotel Vila Gale Cerro Alagoa & how far away is the Algarve Shopping Centre (the biggest one)
Reply
Next to the CA is the Brisa Sol and the Modelo is next door. The train stops outside the BS and the taxi rank is in front of the Modelo.

Algarve Shopping is 5-10 mins drive away.

The Modelo is about 200 metres away. Algarve shopping about 5 miles.
Some info and maps can be downloded HERE

Hi Melissa

I went to the Lagos the last two weeks in July last year and I think apart from one day (when we went to Algarve Shopping LOL), It was wall to wall sunshine, I would think it will be much the same the first two weeks of July.

Have a great time.

Edit: Just remembered another nice thing to do is to go and see the sand sculptures at Pera, I assume they are there every year but someone else may be able to confirm this. There are normally flyers advertising this in hotels and tour shops.

What's going on? I clicked on the exclamation mark to the right of Algarveaddick's post and got a message that his post contains links to illegal or pirated software!! Van, have you stolen the new smilies without permission?! :tut

Think the PC-ness has gone a bit too far when you can't put the con in air-con. Just testing now to see whether we're allowed to put "pros and cons". Ah, I see that's OK :tup
