Hi All,
Hubby & I are planning our first trip to The Algarve for August and i have been searching the internet for information on different areas but im still unsure of where to go as each area looks so beautiful. Could anyone advise me? We are in our 30's, no kids, like quiet, pretty areas, near to beaches, restaurants, shops etc.. We got good flight prices and are planning on renting a small villa but are really suprised at how expensive they are a week compared to other countries we have visited, does anyone know of any bargains? Also is it better to wait until nearer the time to rent somewhere rather than early? Sorry for all the questions but hope someone can help!
Thanks,
Debby.
Hi Debby and welcome to Holiday Truths. I am sure one of the Algarve regulars will answer you shortly but in the meantime we have some
There are beautiful sandy beaches along the whole length of the coast, but if you want the typical Algarvian coves you'd be better looking from Albufeira westwards. Carvoeiro is a smallish resort which might suit you but it's difficult to advise as there are so many places like you describe, but bear in mind that you may need to hire a car if you are staying any distance outside the local town. Always ask the distances to the beach and restaurants.
The main thing is to get in quick, if you're not flexible on dates and you want to go in August. You might be lucky if you wait till nearer the time, but I don't think it's worth the risk. Also, it might be worth considering an apartment rather than a villa as there are only two of you, which should reduce the cost a bit.
Good luck with your search, and if you have any more questions just keep coming back with them!
It is expensive because August is school holidays month and also the month that the majority of the portuguese immigrants get back to Portugal for an holiday and the also the month where most of the people from the big cities such as Lisbin have their holidays and go to the Algarve,it wont be easy to find cheap accomodation as they tend to be booked up really fast even the expensive ones get booked up fast.Like Roseweb said if you can be flexible with the dates i would suggest beggining of September weather still great place not packed so you could enjoy the beauty of it. You see August is everything but quiet in the Algarve.
We have just booked an apartment with a sea view, for second week August overlooking Fishermans beach in Albufeira for 90 euros a night, i think thats about the normal price for that time of year.
