Amazon, the most important thing ... Don't leave your head in the UK.

The second most important thing ... Don't leave your head in the UK.

You get the idea.

There are alot of convincing people who are perfectly able to charm you out of every penny you have, or who can do alot worse things besides.

Personally I'd recommend renting on your own then perhaps looking for a flatmate later on when you are more settled in. Get yourself a Numero de Identidade de Extranjero, and register youself with the council (empadronamiento). With these you will be able to register with a health centre... If you are going to move over, best to do it properly.

One last thing.... Don't trust anybody.

Although I do agree with your first two sentences RaizorBlue, I'm not too sure I agree with your last  You do have to trust someone :D

I'm sure you've researched this amazonbarbie, but accommodation is very expensive (and relatively scarce) compared to wages over here. I would suggest that you make sure you have enough money available to you to be able to live for at least three months without work.

June is generally a very quiet month here, but it should hopefully pick up around the end July/August.

Also to register with the council you do actually have to have a rental contract to prove where you live, the police do check, so that is probably not one of the first things you need to be doing.

Hope your move goes well :D

OK Mad Sue, I'll correct that last sentence:

Don't trust anybody at first, second, third or even fourth sight. After that: be careful.
