Definitely not flip-flops, especially if you are going to watch the sunset - it's a very steep climb. Rugged sandals with straps are fine but as it's likely to be wet now perhaps boots will be better than trainers which may make your feet sweat.

Thanks Chris - just what I thought - will pack the Caterpillar boots, save the flip flops for the beach.
