Wear them if possible,we went to Spain in February about 4 years ago and I wanted to take 2 pairs of boots so I wore one pair and put the other pair in hubby's holdall.

sorry my dear.. you may all think i'm a bit weird but I only ware thigh boots when fishing so my tip would be [assuming they cant be rolled] roll up your Knickers, vest tops and other small items and Stuff the boots tightly [to stop them being crushed] but them in the bottom of the case and pack around them all the other smaller items and towels etc, evening out the layer, then pack suits dresses etc on top,

I wear them and pack the smallest shoes in my case.

If you don't want to wear them then stuff them with small items as Wizard suggested and put them in the bottom of the case.
