Can anyone tell me if this has been their experience ... I first insured a car in Tenerife one year ago - after phoning around the various (English speaking) brokers/insurers, Linea Directa came up with the cheapest quote of around 915 euros for comprehensive ... went to renew just now and was quoted around 1,150 euros - same address, same car - just one year older. When I protested, they said if I could fax them an offer of a lower quote then they would match it.
As my Spanish has improved (and I had help on the call!) Directo Seguros have in fact quoted 675 euros with a lower voluntary excess (270 instead of 360) ... whilst I'm tempted to call Linea Directa's bluff, there is such a difference in the quote that I think I would go to the new Insurer.
Do all companies quote low first year, and then presume you won't change ... or are we paying a hefty premium to deal in English ?
Any thoughts, anyone
