Hi
Im going to Albena beach club/ Gergana, cant work out which one cos its booked as Gergana ? ex albena beach club. on sunday in Albena, ive never been to Bularia and am looking forward. does anyone have any up to date tips on decent (cheapish) places to eat in the local area. we are AI but dont want to sit in the hotel every night, plus we have a 9 year old that likes to try most things.
I know im asking a lot (lol) but advice on where to shop, i think Albena is near Varna so would not mind going there, but any tips on areas would be welcome. oh another one(lol) how much do you think you would need for 2 adults and a child to spend for 2 weeks, we are AI but think a grand would cover things, but wasnt sure how the lev was at the moment and if stuff was still reasonable.
many thanks
Julie.
julie.b. Hi, if you care to scroll down on the 2nd page to Albena Prices, you will see what I did earlier in year. Now I have told many people about the Gergana complex, it is now three Hotels trading under "Gergana Complex" so you could be in any part. If you are looking at 2008 Balkan Brochure that is the Hotel Albena Beach (was 2 hotels) but the photograph of large pool is at the Gergana Hotel next door. If you are looking at the 2009 Brochure, the photogragh saying Gergana complex is completely wrong, the picture shows the Elitza (with pool) Nona and Boryana. Yes shopping is cheap in Varna, but can be even cheaper in Dobrich, both reachable by Bus from Bus Station. rate today in Bulgarian Banks 2.44 so expect 2.30 from your Hotel or Banks in resorts. You can get the better rate by using Banks in the two above mentioned cities. Tonyt.
I can only repeat what Tonyt said,
I'm in Dobrich at the moment - prices are much better than in any of the resorts (I include Varna in 'resorts', as the prices in the 'touristy areas' there are generally higher than in normal Bulgarian cities).
Today's cash exchange rate at Raiffeisen Bank is 2.442 and is on a slight downward trend.
The bus fare from Albena to Dobrich is currently 5 Leva and buses run virtually every 20 minutes in both directions. The fare is the same from Albena to Varna but buses run every 30 minutes in both directions.

im getting ready now to pack(always a last minute girl) your right Tony the hotel is the albena beach club as it was this years brochure, i know the pool is in the Gergana but i dont think its more than a mins walk from what ive looked at.
Your both making me think now i will def. get the bus and find some good shopping. I couldnt decide between a truly lazy do nothin holiday or not!!
Ive bought loads of levs here, but the rest of the money i will take your advice on best places to change.
many thanks
julie (who will just be Flying in 23 hours!!)
We have booked for the Gregana for next summer and would greatly appreciate your view of the hotel and the area when you get back. I have a 7, 12 and 15 year old going so would like to know whats there for them too. Hope you had a great time and are full of good views
Thanks
Sarah

As Tony said above, the Gergana complex comprises 3 hotels, The Gergana itself, Gergana 'S' (the former Slavuna/Albena Beach Club 'S') and the Gergana 'M' (the former Mura/Albena Beach Club 'M'), so unless you definitely know to which one you have been allocated, reviews of the Gergana may not be exceptionally helpful.
