Hello All,
This may get long but I will try to be brief. Here goes...
We booked up with Thomas Cook in May 08 to go to Icmeler (Turkey) in Aug 09. Paid £117 (for 2 adults 1 child) to go on a day flight. Sorted bit pricey but pleased with it so booked it, cool cannot wait.
Here is the downer, got a letter last week to say that flight times coming back to Manchester have been changed. The outbound flight stayed the same. Now we will be leaving Dalaman at 01:35 and arriving back in Mcr at 04:15 (these are not day flights) Instead of leaving DLM at 07:30 arriving Mcr 13:45. NOW I have spoken to my travel agent who have spoken to TC and they will not give any money back not even half of the supplement paid for booking day flight (thought it was only fair as it is now day flight going and night flight coming home). I even asked for complimentary inflight meals instead and they still did not move.
I feel so so angry. My parents are flying out the week after us and they changed their flights totally to suit. Unfortunately that one on our dates is fully booked otherwise they would have changed. Although they wanted £60 to begin with but my good old mum stood firm.
SO - what can I do to get something back for inconveniance? Do I have a chance? Effectively I have booked for day flights but only got them on the way out. Which I know if I tried to book this way it could not happen. I feel like I am fighting a corporate company and have little chance.
I think my hotel is Sunset if that makes a difference.
I am new at this so sorry for the long post. Please help me someone.
Ruth
If it is any consolation, remember you would have been up all night on your original flight times. Take off at 7.30 means check in by 5.30 and I believe it is about 2 hours from Icmeler to Dalaman, so that means you would have left your hotel at say 3am! Ugh! At least now you may get 4 hours sleep on the plane.
sorry I have got it wrong we should have been leaving DLM at 15:15 and landing in Mcr at 17:50. I have put down our outbound flights from Mcr instead of the inbound from DLM.

Firstly that is a bargin price but I presume it is a typo.
Most travel companies T&C's state flights can change time and less than 12hours no compensation is due (But you can normally cancel and have a refund) so you don't have much chance I am afraid, flights times are normally only finalised a couple of months before the start of the season once the contracts are confirmed between airports, carrier and air space authorities, unfortunately if you book the previous year the more likely this will happen but you normally get the cheaper prices.
I would firstly advise checking that the original flights are no longer for sale (Via the internet or a new travel company), it has been known for companies to move bookings to other flights to make way resell the more popular flights at a higher price, if you discover this has happened inform the travel company that you believe this has happened and you will be taking it further.
I wish you luck
Dave
Yes I have looked and the flight were were on originally have been totally scrapped. So looks like I will just have to grin and bear it.
I will write a letter but no holding much hope. It means more time in resort without a room and flying home a night. But paid for this! Sucks

I think it is rather unfair that you have paid extra for a day flight but when they changed it to a night flight they refused to give you some money back. Keep on at them, I hope you get a refund.
yes our flights have changed also, but got to say, they`re better flights so not so bothered, well the flight backs are better, going out`s not so good, but could`ve been alot worse
Just to let you know, I have been flying with T/C for the last 4 years over to Dalaman leaving gatwick at 07.30, however last year since their merger, I booked hols for 2008 in 2007 for the same departure time, only to have them changed twice and finally leaving at 11.45am - i know its not a big difference but when you book all the extras ie car park etc it becomes a mess having to re sort thing out,
I booked this yrs 2009 hols in july 2008 for 07.00 depature - same flight number etc as the last 4 yrs - knowing in my mind that it would be changed to 11.45am - and it was within 3 weeks of booking it !! why cant they tell you this when booking !!
now looking at my booking on t/c website as i was arranging car park and transfers in dalaman I noticed my flights have changed yet again - to 10.50am !! I know its earlier but why ?
last year I found a lot of t/c flight were late due to shortage of crew and sickkies,
just posting this to let others know - yes thery are great to fly with but be carefull on your flight times as they do change them
good luck to you all and HAPPY HOLIDAYS
TC hav changed our flights again(2nd time since we booked) have gone from cushty flights mon morning to crappy flights 2 days earlier (sat night) not happy, will they have sorted hotels as it was a package deal? unsure whether to leave it n hope they might change again to something a bit better or ring TC?????
This is nothing new!last year we booked our flights with AegeaFlights, using Onurair, they were changed 3 times.Im prepared for the same happening this year.
There are likely to be more flights from the UK to Turkey next year, so there should be plenty of flexibility. If you want to lesser the risk of having your flight changed, it's probably better to book later (March/April onwards).
