IF so I would suggest you get in touch with Thomson as Fiesta have sold both of these hotels.

Thomson deny all knowledge and reckon we just have to go where we are booked.

I would have thought the contract is void if the actual hotel is no longer as we booked??

Anyone else booked with Thomson to either of these hotels for 2008?
If so I would like to hear from you.

Disappointed with Thomson

Hiya Woody,

Well the email I have from Fiesta about the Bahamas that its is actually the first hotel for the new owners, how true this is I don't know, but it isn't on Grupo Playa Sol's list!
Fiests did say they don't know what facilities the new company will provide in the form of entertainment and meals and if Thomson deny all knowledge then we are left wondering what we will be going to!!
I am booked with Thomson along with another 2 families we are meeting up with in June.

I haven't spoken to Thomson but my friend has and they say if we wish to move then we have to pay!"!

email from headoffice in ibiza.

Hello,

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner; I was out of the office for the holiday. The same staff will be working at the algarb but the former manager of the hotel will not be there. It has been bought by gruposol, but Thomson should have more information on your reservation if you've already made it with them. They should be able to help you if you decide to change hotels or simply want to re-confirm your stay.

Hope this helps.

Best regards and happy new year,

Thanks Woody,
I have in fact been in touch with Fiesta regarding the Bahamas and now have information regarding the new ownership.
I have emailed the new owners for more information.
They own a hotel in San Miguel called Caspla, quite luxurious.
Fiesta also said they will contact Thomson and find out why they are denying knowledge of this change/

My family and I went to the bahamas 'beach club'? a couple of years ago and for a family hotel there were many many Itallian 18-30's there! This was in August and The thomson rep just said that because the hotel wasn't full then they sold the rooms on! Fair enough but it did spoil our holiday! Whilst watching the family entertainment there were Itallians booing everytime the people on stage said they were from England and there were also a few fights! Also whilst watching the entertainment there were groups of lads blasting music from their hotel rooms!
For a family hotel it was a disgrace!
At 3 am there would be hoards of returning Itallians making noise by the pool and getting sheets from their rooms so they could all sleep out on the sunbeds shouting till 6 in the morning!!!

I urge anyone if booked to go here to get the 'full' information on whats happening because the last thing you want to do on a family holiday is be surrounded by 18-30 types!

Hi CHivas, we have been there for the last two years and not had any problems but we do tend to go outside of school holidays when its not so busy.
There were lots of different nationalities there when we were and we didnt have any problems at all.
People coming home at 3am dont bother me as I'm probably one of them!(I am quiet though)
However, I still intend to find out everything possible before I leave my booking as it is.
I agree what you had to put up with was disgraceful for a family hotel.
The next step is to get Thomson to tell us some information.
I'm waiting for a reply from the new owners.

I'm wondering if Thomson are going to try and do what they always do and thats leave it until the very latest time possible legally to let people know!!! This way it'll give people less chance to get somewhere else and it will also mean they have to give out less compensation!

i have been told two things.one from headoffice saying they will be charged .and the other from a shop saying you will not.

I havent actually spoken to anyone at Thomson yet but one of the other families we are meeting have.
They took prints of the emails I have from Fiesta and Thomson still denied it lol.
They said if we want to move we have to pay, that was head office.

I'm waiting until I'm armed with some more *evidence* then I'll go and see them.

a little update on this situation.............

I rang my local Thomson and asked about the hotel and was told they knew nothing but would contact Thomson Customer Service .

I received a letter from Thomson today stating what I already knew.

However, we wanted to know if there would still be an option to upgrade to all inclusive, so I rang the number on the letter and spoke to a very nice girl who told me that we could either:

1, contact local shop and ask them for prices of other Fiesta hotels at the date of booking ours. Then change to one of them but pay either the lower or higher price whichever it may be.
or

2, cancel the booking and have a full refund of all monies paid.

Just though some people might like to know how things stand.
All other facilities are as advertised minus any Fiesta facilites and benefits. (Fiestaland etc)

Update.......................

We are now booked into the Hotel Don Toni at the price it would have been if we had booked in September.

No admin fees so we are quite happy about that.

Hi,we've booked to go too.Thomsons wrote to us telling us that it is no longer a Fiesta hotel, fiesta benefits will no longer apply.they have told us that we can change hotels, and they will waive amendment charges, but,as you probably realise there are not free child places left where we would like to go,so big price difference,£400,they will cancel booking,no money lost. They will not tell me who has bought it nor give me an e-mail address,as I have a few questions I would like to ask the new owners. We have been there three times so would really like to know how it will affect our stay,as most of the sports facilities were based a Fiestaland, these will not be available,Thomson will not makeany reductions for the loss of any facilities,I have already asked, hope this helps you,I will post again if I have any news.

I am sure if they put you in The Don Toni like Mackem then you can still use the fiestaland stuff?
Also See if they'll let you have the free child place as it was probably available when you first booked!
Reply
yes, Oscarben, we chose the Don Toni as it's right next to Fiestaland and gets great reviews.

I have the email of the new owners and actually emailed them ages ago but they have never replied.

I know you won't have the option of all inclusive upgrade if you stay at the Bahamas.

It also has guaranteed free child places in the Skytours brochure and as Chivas says they should honour it anyway as you would be charged the price it would have been when you booked it originally.

Where were you thinking of going?
