Don't worry about that Doe I'll pm you my exec. Account number and you can transfer them to me , I'll spend em !!!! ;) 24000 is the max !!!! :thanks :thanks
It also sounds like you should spend less time shopping in tesco ;) !!! And yes I remember green shield stamps , and collecting petrol tokens for glasses !! Now it's upgrades on flights , we've come a long way .

tesco, amex for the free redemption tickets, hilton, marriott, sandos, Golden Circle, Sofitel( in fact any hotel I've ever stayed at. :) I usually change the hotel loyalty points for BA miles or avios as it is now. I have 240 000 miles and have already had a fair few First and Club World flights with my miles redemption vouchers. :) Yes, I am a huge fan of loyalty cards- but I think Doe ( and Andy) that we are in the minority.

No , you both have more than me :cry It's time to share !!!!! I actually have a plan made out for next year , and once you get started on these schemes it's easy to keep getting more and more benefits , I've only just really started but you do have to plan and do the groundwork and thinking to get the maximum out of the scheme.

You do need to spend some time to get the best out of it- but its really worth it. We use a long haul redemption almost every year.
Reply
You're right , and long haul is the best way to use them , you get more bang for your buck , I have taken out the Amex card recently and will soon get a 40000 bonus for initial spend over 3 months , that's already earmarked for an upgrade ;) At the moment I'm building up points but have plans that are eating them up just as quickly , but then you do get some points back as you travel , obviously the full reward flights and companion vouchers when used don't earn you more Avios .
Also BAs taxes and fees are a bit on the high side but when you look at the whole picture the reward scheme is very good there is no way I could travel like that at normal prices , so if used well you are getting a freebie for your loyalty .

:rofl I actually have a seperate purse for my loyalty & membership cards.. The only one that I seem to use frequently is my tesco one but I currently have in here .. Avios, BA executive club, Hilton honors (I do surveys with e rewards to collect points on that one too ), Nectar, BAA world points (for my airport shopping) , Game (does that one exist any more ?), Shell drivers card (waste of space), Boots , M&Co

Ok I'll admit you all lost me after Green Shield stamps were mentioned :cry

What's it all about and what do you have to do?

What type of disease is an AVIOS????? :rofl

Andy I'm shocked you remember green shield stamps I thought you were a young guy :D ive recently taken out a new card for 40,000 as well, that's how I get mine, is it called smoozzing ?

As you say Fi it can be hard work, to keep maxing things out and remembering to always buy through the BA or AVIOS but I never spend more than an hour and a half in Tesco a week but often shop for 5.

Lyn, I've got a Hilton card and a Marriott one and never remember to use them :rofl not that I often stay in them I can usually be found in the cheap seats :rofl

Have heard of airmiles but I thought they were collected by people who use someone like BA regularly. As a budget airline person I didn't think we got airmiles. I do get points from Jet2 for each booking I make & have managed one, free one way flight :rofl I had some left over this year but no 'points' flights available for my dates :sulk

Glynis- the vast majoirity of my BA/Avios points weren't earned through actually flying :)
Lyn- I forgot about my Boots card. I think I have about £50 on that but I can never spend it as I always seem to be using some promotion or voucher at the time I'm buying. :D

I mostly buy online if I do a boots order fi . Although it collect's the points you have to update it on their machine instore which I never remember to do if I go anywhere near one.

A couple of weeks ago I needed a cheepo flight to Geneva.

Easyjet was £118, with no luggage, they wanted £28 for one bag :yikes . AVIOS was 9,000 miles and £30 so more or less the sarme price as the bag :rofl on EJ. It was a no brainier.

I don't collect miles from flying either, mainly cards, Stressco's and online shopping although the later means you can't do quidco though..

Youngish ;) I only just remember them ! They used to come out of the top of the till all together? Not sure what it's called but smoozzing sounds good :D I thinks that's an Alan Sugar word ! He don't like smoozers ?
I should get my Amex bonus very soon and I will be up to nearly 100000 and will spend 50000 on upgrade to St lucia , by march or april next year I should get the companion voucher and use that for Dubai next November 2013 I will be trying hard to get the 120000 for first so will only have to pay taxes and fees which are around £497 each , so it will be Dubai return for 2 in first for just under £1000 . Not too bad for just spending in a certain way .

its the best way to use miles. I would never dream of paying for CW or First- I couldn't ever afford anyway. But its a fantastic experience.

OH has to fly to his work for the next year- and he needs to connect at Heathrow so loads of tier points. He is just about to hit bronze and will make silver with the extra flights. So looking forward to gaining even more airmiles to spend :D

Think I have got that word wrong Andy - might be schmoozing - didnt realise it was an Alan Sugar word. With mIles I think it means taking out things for the initial sign up bonus, referring people so you and they get bonuses and then ditching the card and doing it all over time and time again. It can be complex though - but still better than spending your life in Tesco to get miles. :rofl

I'm going to hit bronze after the st lucia flight and hope to be silver by my year end before the Dubai flight , might drop down to bronze the year after though , I've read elsewhere that it's best to use points for long haul as you really benefit from having CW or first if you're lucky , short haul and club Europe are a waste of points unless you have shedloads , Does example ( geneva ) shows that even if you don't have a lot you can still get something out of it though , not to be sniffed at As regards costs who can afford CW or First ? Unless someone else is paying !! I imagine most in the pointy end of the plane are there by free upgrades or paid for business travel .

Doe , that's it schmoozers !!!! :D Sounds better than being a Card Tart :D which is one I've heard elsewhere or rate tart when you keep transferring card balances to 0% cards .
I don't care if I'm a schmoozer or a tart , I'm happy to sit with the rest of them :D

Lol . Yes the only way LCC' s like easy and Robbinair work out well if you book as soon as they release. If you are unable to plan or just do not wish to committ to things eight o nine months in advance, short haul with AVIOS can be a great deal, provided BA have released seats to holders on the dates you want.

I also don't care what they call me, you just hav to play it for what it's worth :D I'd take BA over Robin any day of day of he week!
