hi im a thomson rep here in gran canaria. youll find almost all the bars etc will still be open on christmas day however if your wanting a traditional xmas dinner youll probably have to head into playa ingles or try and book in at one of the hotels in the area ie maspalomas princess

We're not worried about having traditional xmas dinner. We would have stayed at home if we were! Just looking for somewhere nice really. I was just concerned that places would be fully booked of closed and we wouldn't get anything at all. We'll probably just wait until we get there then. Do you know of the apartments we're going to? We're staying at El Palmeral Bungalows. It's mostly good reviews I've read but always nice to get another opinion.

Going to Meloneras on 18th and returning on 25th so not really christmas there but nearly also going with Thomsons, got a really good deal.

El Parmeral is 2 min walk to Faro 2 shopping centre with bars/resturants never stayed there but walk past there looks really nice. Nice food in EL GAUCHOS playa de ingles and MICHAEL ANGELOS in the Faro 2

I'm flying out to GC on 23rd December and staying until 6th January - can't wait !!!!

I've only ever been to mainland spain for xmas or new year before, but most places seemed to be open throughout the xmas/new year period. We're planning to stock up on essentials like milk & water, just in case.

We're going on the 21st - !st Jan staying in the Green Golf Masp.
