If so, who did you use, or what recommendations do you have.

PM Chilly, I think her husband Mike was an instructor out there
Tell me...have you been on any of these..if so, what kind of boat do they use ? we have been on long trips out and in a speedboat in Thailand and its bleedin uncomfortable after a while !
Thx..Jeff
I was going to dive there last year, i am AOW, but found the vis was very poor due to the two rivers, apparantly only 4-6 metres.
Did think about it when I was in Sharm a couple of years ago but stuck to snorkeling instead.
If you do go diving in Goa, let us all know how you get on.
Yes my husband was working out there for a few seasons with one of the dive centres and has had some great dives....there is a new company set up there now who started last season I am struggling to think of the name of the dive centre but its behind little Italy and he is spot on a genuine and concientious guy, extreemly experienced and well qualified... he has the fastest speed boat out there and gets you to the dive sites extra quick, he has a well equiped shop, good pool and well serviced equipment, Grand Island is the main place for the dives and you can usually get a couple of decent dives in there, the viz depends on the prevailing winds and currents, but you can generally dive one side of the island or the other, viz is from 3 mtrs to (rarely)10 mtrs depending, but all shallow dives, deepest is 21 mtrs...Mike has seen groupers as big as himself!!! leopard morays, there is a great shipwreck and all in all a good day out... of course we are not talking the red sea here!!! but not as bad as some imagine for Goa!! If you need any further info plse pm and I will pin Mike down for further info!! I am also a padi diver but dont dive anymore due to a lung condition....

My hubby is and always has been a natural in water (as stated by other diving instructors in other countries) although its only 4 years since he got his open water he has managed to dive Sharm x2, Vietnam, Bali and several med coutries.
When they arrived back at the dive shop in Baga my husband demanded a refund - as did the other diver (the one without correct weights) which they were both given. The other what was on the same trip couldnt get out of van/bus quick enough and made a rapid escape down the road.
I had done lots of research and even asked the same question on here regarding how safe/good etc and according to PADI this dive school/shop are members so what else can one do
This may have been a ''one off'' but one thing for sure is that anyone who asks my hubby he tells them straight that he didnt at anytime feel safe, be it walking from the jetty, on the rickety boat or during the 10 minute dive.
Just thought I would share the experience and you can then make up your own minds.
Regards
Jules

Barracuda Diving is one of the most professionally run dive companies in Goa, they are based at the Marriot in Panjim.
As people have said before the visibility tends to be pretty poor but if you dont go out expecting the Red Sea you wont be disappointed. They also run trips down to Natrani Island in Karnataka where the vis is far better. The web site gives quite a lot of info.
