I am not bothered about t.v on holiday, unless there was international football,in which case we would go to a bar to watch it. My husband always watches the t.v though while I am getting ready etc. Always buy a paper though, like to keep up with the news, then I spend about half an hour moaning about how much I have had to pay for it!
Not really bothered about watching TV on holiday, My partner always switches the TV on but usually we can only get Sky News or the odd football game, there are only so many times you can watch repeated news .......it can turn you to drink:tup

In fact, I dislike television so much I got rid of the one in my house a couple of months ago as the only thing I watch is F1 which I now watch at a friend's house during the season
So, if I still took holidays (which I no longer do, last one was in 2007) the very last thing on my list of 'must-haves' would be a television!

im loving some of the replys
I'm not bothered by the tv while on hols , but hubby will always turn it on if there is one in the apartment or hotel room out of habit i think and also for some background noise, we do usually go out to watch a game of football depending on who is playing
When I go with the girls, although there's usually a TV we don't have it on - we play our Ipods on speakers..................
funny you should say that glynis i went on a girlie weekend to ibiza and we never put ours on once
In Spain getting ready for dinner we got used to watching MTV with this mad guy called Flavour Flav! He was so funny and it passed the time away waiting for others to get showered and ready etc. It just became our thing every evening!
In Gran Canaria my son thought it was great that we could get the Disney channel, it certainly kept him quiet before going down for dinner each night and my OH was equally chuffed watching Sky Sports in the room! It meant he didn't have to miss a Man United Premiership game, the saddo! Usually he drives me mad as soon as we get to a place bursting to look around for the nearest bar with Sky Sports
I would feel a bit lost without a tv in the room I suppose, we mostly put it on just to have a bit of noise in the room when we get up and when we get ready for the evening etc but I certainly don't mope about missing the soaps, favourite shows etc while I am on holiday.
Going on holiday I remember watching Barney in greek once when we were in Cyprus, my eldest daughter was 6 and once when we were in Cyprus about 5 years ago the girls used to watch my parents are aliens whilst me and hubby would have a siesta!
Just curious how come you no longer take holidays?
Yes
Recently been to Mexico as a solo traveller, there was a tv in the room so yes I liked BBC news although it did seem to repeat the news items and in the evenings I did tune in to Universal. This was my first land based holiday for about 10 years, normally I go on scuba trips on boats, so no tv or radio or newspapers which is also great.
I knew then that once I'd brought my babies home (which I did in August 2008) that I'd never have another proper holiday. There is someone I trust who'd willingly look after them but I simply wouldn't want to leave them for just over two weeks
I do still have the odd weekend away for gig/forum meet trips but that's as long as I'm prepared to stay away from my beloved parrots for
Thanks for your reply Pippy and I hope it didnt come across me being nosey. I think that is great how you show much dedication to your parrots. I have read in the past how much they mean to you its a nice example that the simpler things in life can bring so much happiness with out having to book a holiday.

i used to like a tv in the room but only cos there was one, last year we didnt have one and i just took my ipod speakers and had music in the room, this year there is no tv again so speakers will be coming with me
A few years ago we were in Benalmadena and we had a roof top sun terrace in our room so I spent most of the time out there and just had the tv on in the room for some white noise when hubby was out walking, though Ascot was on and the tv presenter kept calling it Askit, grrrr.
When we got to Estartit, we get quite a few british tv channels and just watch the news in the morning. Though last year we went with our SIL & BIL and they watched so much tv instead of being out in the lovely sunshine that it got on my nerves.
