Hi all (noob here)
Im planning getting married at Capo Bay Hotel in Protarious.
I have not booked anything yet as I want a few things clearing up.
Various tour operators have "packages" that saves you having to sort the legal stuff out- my q is whether the extras are worth it? I would want to coose my own photograper as I would like to see their work 1st. I also am not fussy about massive flowers. All I want is a nice garden ceremony, cocktail reception and a sit down dinner, with perhaps a disco into the evening?
Basic packages are about £200, then is the hire costof the ceremony venue (i.e gazebo) and reception venue seperate?
When I get there I anticipate that I am gonna have to have a few grand in the el banko to pay for a lot of things...anyone got the lowdown on this?
Ive Emailed a few hotels and asked them to email me their wedding menus and price lists. its averaging about 52 euros per person. Sparkling wine reception about 29 euros p/p and 19 euros per bottle of house wine for the guests.
Im happy to email the lists to anyone interested.
Last q!! What time (i.e time of day and year) is best to get married? Is August too hot? is it true that civil happen in the am and religious in the pm? I want to get married as late as poss so I dont have to feed my 20 guests twice haha!
If anyone can shed any light I would be most grateful,
Thanks
Leanne
Yes that seems to be the average prices for the hotels but this can vary depending on the hotel, Hotels also charge you for the Gazebo and also for function rooms as they do not allow music outside in the gardens after 7 pm, so there is extra costs.
August is very hot and Humid, May and Sept to October are very warm and comfortable months which I would advise but if you do marry in July and August do try to get a later time as much as possible, this is only possible if you have your wedding through a private wedding planner or if you organize it yourself.
A Civil wedding can either be in the morning or in the afternoon the only difference is the cost, If you have the civil at the town hall in the morning up till 1330 Hrs then the cost is €282. If you have the civil at a hotel the costs would be €282 plus the cost of the registra to attend, Off hand in the region of €480 or there abouts, something like that in Paphos. Religious weddings are from all day really
Just remember if you do have a wedding late in the afternoon say 3 pm most people will have there lunch at 12 and if you have a party of say 30, you could be finished by 5:30 maybe 6 pm after the photo's and if you have sunset shots your talking about another 40 mins. Then you will sit down for your meal have your speeches which could take another half an hr so you could start eating at 7:30 pm Now that's a long time to go without food and most people could go past the hunger stage and not eat much at the diner which will be a waste. try to consider a small finger buffet for the guests around 1 .5 - 2 hrs after the ceremony
regards
Kev
You have pretty much confirmed what othrs have said, nice to get an independant view, the ladies in the travel agent have their xps and try to shove u in a certain direction!
September 2011 is gonna be the time, the place is capo bay and found an awesome wedding coordinator by aphrodite weddings. They have been really good with answering requests for quotes and bits and bobs. Not booked anything yet but fingers x will be booked tomorrow!
hi there, can you tell me what wedding planners you used. there seems to be so man, i'd like to get some reccommendations before making a decision as to who we are going to use. thanks
I know there are loads to choose from, all with different packages and offers! Make sure you read testemonials, check their agents (photograpers, florists etc) and make sureyou get a full quote before you commit.
I got quotes from first choice as a comparison, they come out cheaper in some areas but all in all they were the most expensive! The quote came out the same as aphrodites with an identical package barring 1 thing - the horse and carriage ride - so probs would have been 500 more than using a local company.
Planet Holidays are supposed to be good also and Olympic.
I am looking to book my wedding in Cyprus, Sept 2011, and i am looking for some advice and the best way to go about it. Ive had prices from thomas cook, but they seem a tad steep, does anyone know or know of anyone who could give me some helpfuf hints and tips as i dnt know where to start!!
Blue palm sunset, i was the first person to have my wedding reception at blue palm & the only thing i can say is that its every brides dream! The decoration in the marquee & the view from the marquee can only be described as breathtaking, the food was absolutely stunning, cooked to perfection, jenny was available whenever we needed her and nothing was to much trouble for her, everyone at aphrodite weddings, christos, the bar staff, & our dj which jenny arranged made our day truly unique, if you want a fairy tale wedding in cyprus then i would highly recommend blue palm.

Hi Kelly, thanks for the info, my daughter can only get married in the 6wks holidays so it will be August, did you book your wedding as a package with Thomas Cook? i think we will book Adams beach, as it will be handy for the wedding.
i booked the holiday with first choice and i booked the wedding direct with the hotel.i emailed marios and he took me through everything.he is brilliant.they organised the food, flowers, cake and hair and beauty was done at the hotel which was all organised on the second day we were there.we arrived at 12 midnight and we were meeting marios at 9am the next day.it was all sorted by 10am.didnt have to worry aboout anything.my mother took a lot of things out like wedding favours and sashes for the chairs.the hairdresser anna is lovely and you have a free trial before the wedding day.my nails were done on the morning and there is a lady who comes to the hotel to do your makeup.i chose to do the wedding separately as you can chose the day and time of the wedding.if you do it with thomas cook they cant guarantee the time and day you want.it sounded complicated at first but it was easy.marios sends you the link to contact ayia napa town hall once you have confirmed the date and time with him to see if its available.when ayia napa town hall confirms with you then it is all done.if you want the email address for marios let me know and i will send it to you.kelly

Hello Kelly, does it work out more expensive to do it the way you did it? also did you book the holiday first? my daughter has Marios e mail address thanks, its sounds like the better option to do it seperate, although we wont no how many will come to the wedding until later, thanks roxy
it worked out cheaper doing it the way i did.marios will need to know how many is coming to the wedding in order to give you the options for the reception.i bboked the wedding first and then when the brochures came out booked the holiday.i had to work it out due to the days the flights went from cardiff.if you book it with marios direct you need to be at the hotel 7 days before you can get married.i flew on the sunday 16th may,got married on the 23rd may and returned on the 31st may.i had to work it out the day i wanted to get married and took it from there.kelly
Im planning on getting married in June 2012 in Paphos.
Can anybody recommend good quality 4-5* hotel which provides wedding ceremonies?
Been browsing the brochures and Amathus Beach hotel and Athea Beach have stood out, has anybody had any experiences of a wedding in either one (good or bad i dont mind)
Thanks Emma x
Can anyone let me know if anyone has done this? - not to a grand scale of a wedding i know but would just like to renew our vows. how does one start to organise this?
Would like to be around the limassol area (wse will be staying in Pissouri) very very small scale etc. who do we contact etc.
background - we will be married (2013) 25 years a moved to Cyprus 2 weeks after wedding so would like to complete the circle.
any help will be great
louise
All hotels in Cyprus provide wedding ceremonies and the ones I have been to other then the ones you have stated are
Aquamare Hotel
Annebelle
Almrya
Elysium
Coral beach Hotel
Just to name a few
Hi briggsy2007
To renew your vows does not entail a great deal as you only need a minister who can officiate a small blessing and you can do this just about anywhere i.e. at a beach or at Aphroditi's Rock (not far from Pissouri) this can be done also by a lay preacher. There are no formal papers as such to renew but you will receive a document from the minister
The other things which also depends on you is how you would like it played out such as organising cars or transport for the guests attending a finger bufffet for afterwards and also a meal at a romantic restaurant.
