Good idea we are going again in Dec but staying in Calangute (Baga last time) so need a few hints to some lively places. Could I also ask that people give basic directions to where they are 
My favs are : Horizon Bar top of Sunset Beach Road......the bar outside the Magnum - Havelli i think it's called.....Cinibar by Acron Arcade....Annapurna for old times sake.....Teama if i'm pushed......
Eclipse Bar on the right as you walk from Calangute to Baga next door to Caps Corner and before shooters and Subway, Dipoo, Danno and Nano are a great bunch of lads, nice full English breakfast too if thats your thing 
I never seemed to get much further than Nirvanas the twice I've been 
The Public Bar in Calangute is probably the other half and my favourite watering hole, not just for the prices and certainly not for the decor, but definitely a good place to meet other tourists and locals alike.
Barets opposite the ronil Hotel i have to say is our favorite and
Yes we also like the public bar too see the world passing by always met friendly people there,

On right going to Calangute steps
Some nights the public bar is great - especially if you can sit next to the road and watch the world go buy and buy countless useless plastic objects from the most persistent sellers in Goa. Very friendly and you always end up talking to somebody. 
However, on some nights it's like a cross between a zoo and Chewbacca's bar in Star Wars. I recall one night with Glaswegians in one corner and Scousers in another, both crucifying their local songs, shouting and screaming and......we left sharpish
It's good but choose your night - love those prices, though!

Hey DebGreg - I'm no Scousist!! I work in Liverpool often and love the place but even the most ardent Scouser must admit that the combination of holiday spirit, cheap Goan spirit and party time Scousers can be a pretty forbidding combination!!
Ever been in The Atlantic on the Dock Road? Multiply a Friday night there by 10 and you get some idea of the Public Bar that night!!

A new bar has just opened on Wednesday called BRIGHTSIDES and it is next to J29 sportsbar on Candolim beach road, well worth a visit.

I like cocktails and dreams ( I think its called that anyway ). Its on Titos road and if you sit out the front you can just people watch all night
In Candolim a good bar is bending bamboo's for a late night drinking session, [so I've been told]
