Picadilly Bar! That's the one!
Thank you - just couldn't remember the name of it!
Cheers
Elaine
just read that andrew has died suddenly.condolences to all his family ,especially david his partner, rip
That is so sad. My condolences to the family too.
I've heard some very Sad News that Andrew (Lulla Belle) from the Rich Bitch Cabaret Bar, passed away last week. He apparently died of heart attack. He was only in his early 40's. He will be sadly missed by many people. We last saw him in July when we went to see the show again, and he was on top form as usual. He brought so much fun and humour to the show, things will certainly not be the same there without him. RIP.
Kevin posted this last week Taggy.
I had asked about the bar Rich Bitch as was planning a visit. Sadly, the main act, Tallulabelle, died suddenly and Rich Bitch was closed due this. There were lots of floral tributes outside the bar.
Highly recomend The Yorkshire Pride2, on Calle Londres. cheap beer, very good reasonably priced food, friendly staff, well kept bar. It's where we kept going back to.
Went to Valentines to see peatloaf, thought he was pretty good, didn't reckon much to valentines itself though!, hot, stuffy, overpriced, poor service, we left as soon as peatloaf finished.
We ate once in john and joseph's, not overly impressed, it was ok but not a patch on the yorkshire pride.
We went in the triangle, woman behind bar was rude and unhelpful! we left.
we went in the plazza twice, not bad!, drinks ok, place itself ok, saw blues brothers tribute(not bad)
and michael jackson/ magic tribute ( terrible!!!!).
We had a good holiday, I would go back tomorrow if I could!
But , I have to say I was dissapointed with the standard of the entertainment on offer.
i have to agree with the yorkshire pride 2 rennie , always drink and eat on that street and then go to a club later at night. the drop inn , and quite a few spanish bars in Calle Londres are also fantastic , as is the queen mary just up the road.
I didn't think much of Valentines but I did spend a lot of time on the Calle Londres, an excellent thoroughfare, probably spoilt by the presence of Subway.
Yorkshire Pride 2. No thanks. Went in once. Rude staff, dirty tables, waitresses constantly with fags hanging out of there mouths. The cleanliness of the kitchen left a lot to be desired and seeing the so called chef dip his hand into a bucket, pull out raw meat, then seconds latter handle salad polished the impression of the place off nicely. Each to their own I guess.
I did see the staff smoking but only while they were not busy, not while actually serving. We ate there every day at least once, sometimes twice and noticed no problems, the food was far better than anywhere else we ate last week.
I even had a kebab from the indian place accross the road, with loads of chilli sauce and wasn't ill
I can only speak as I find and the cleanliness of the Yorkshire Pride 2 left a lot to be desired in my opinion. Had I have not been getting a drink and looked through the serving hatch to see the so called chef going into a bucket, pulling out raw meat then handling salad with out washing his hands I'd have been none the wiser as to their food preperation standards. Yorkshire pride is like a number of places in Benidorm - not the most glamorous of settings but serve reasonable priced run of the mill English food. I'd just like the people handling my food to have some basic standards.
For me there are better places to eat in Benidorm and certainly cleaner places but people can make their own minds up. I was just stating what had happened to me in reply to your experience.
the kebabs are nice in the indian accross the road rennie , but i like the ones from the chip shop down the road a wee bit.
Kebabs from the Indian on Calle Londres are really nice. Its also open till about 4am which is ideal if your looking for somehthing to eat after one or two drinks :cheers. Another nice place to eat/drink on Calle Londres is Blondies. Its open till around 4am depending how busy they are. There is a KFC at the bottom of the road which should be almost ready to open now as when we were there in October it wasn't far off being finished.
we did go in a spanish bar on that street, at about 0400!, don't think it was blondies though.
rennie, it may have been Lino's, next door to subways? We spent quite a lot of time in there earlier this year.
was quite a few people of different nationalities in there
been in there also , very cheap for a drink , and he pours you a very large glass of smirnhoff vodka , sometimes hard to get a seat in september.
When we were there he had his absolutely stunning (in my opinion) daughter working the late shift.
NEW BAR~:a new bar has opened next to jumping jacks, very very nice with 3 floors its called the rock star, daughter was in there last nite and said its the best bar by far in benidorm
