I don't think you will have any problem doing this ,it is exactly what we do in S'algar,have a couple of drinks then go out for a meal then it's drinks on the balcony and by the way it's your holiday you do what you want to do.Enjoy yourself in fantastic Menorca.

i was wondering if anyone could tell me if there are places where the good lady and i can buy a litre of gordons in the resort (cala galdana) so we can enjoy a very large one on the balcony

We had a look round the Sol Gavilanes a few years back when we stayed in the Audax hotel, it has a lovely view from the dining room.

With regards to a drink on the balcony. There were little supermarkets in Cala Galdana that sold alcohol............am not sure about Gordons gin or if it was another make but you should certainly be able to get the odd bottle or two of gin in resort.

Well there is a shop in cala galdana that sells lots of booze you cant miss it, its the largest one in the street.
How wonderful you are staying at this hotel wot a lovely position and the resort is great. I go back in September....Hope you have a lovely time, let me know how you get on and wot the weather is doing! ...and try the hotel Cala Galdana for a good meal also...buffet style but very good, the chinese restaurant is nice but works out quite pricey...Bon Voyage!!

re gin, Menorca is famous for its own gin, made originally for the British Naval personnel who used to be stationed there in the past.

Nowadays the Menorcans have discovered a taste for it themselves!

It is called Xoriguer gin, comes in a distinctive cylindrical green bottle with a handle and a picture of a windmill on it.

The locals drink it as a "pomada" mixed with lemonade (the local cloudy type like Fanta, not our clear lemonade)

but I believe it's just as good with tonic ......

Incidentally you can buy this gin now in UK in Waitrose but it is expensive over here. I can't remember how much it costs in Menorca, I'm afraid.
