Yes thanks i read the review of the hotel, just read some of trip advisor and they where a bit negative. Just wanted to get some things first hand off anyone has been before.

I was also looking at the three Jamaican beaches resorts recently for Easter 2008. Before we had the children, we'd had three excellent stays at Sandals resorts and quite fancied trying to replicate the experience as a family.

I always check this site's reviews and TripAdvisor before booking anything and I must say, for a top dollar holiday, we were both rather put off by the TA reviews. Although I've learned to read between the lines with TA reviews (I find our friends across the pond often have unrealistic expectations and nearly always slate the food & service), the underlying problem with the Sandy Bay and Boscobel resorts seems to be that they both need a refurb. The Negril resort looked better but it's a fair bit more expensive than the other two.

Despite the reviews we hmmm'd and ahhh'd over Sandy Bay due to the perceived Sandals factor and the fact it's only 150 rooms, but in the end booked an Iberostar resort in Mexico which was £1000 cheaper and seems to get excellent reviews from everyone.

Thanks for the reply, the strange thing on TA was that the yanks where giving better reviews than us brits. The reason being is they paid half as much as we do, so in reality there holiday was resonable / good value for money. When your paying top doller ( like we have to pay for beaches ), and found out what other people where paying, you sort of feel a little hard done by.

I have spoke to my wife and tend to think what you have done and try one of the other large chains.

Hoopefully may get some more responses, with comments of people who have actually been.
