Benidorm Chicken

I would imagine it's Olive Oil, used widely in cooking around the Mediterranean.
Are you talking about a particular place that sells chicken like Marianos who cook it on a spit or just Benidorm chicken in general?

I think it's the chicken not the oil, if you look in a butchers the chickens are yellow and look a bit stringy but they have been corn fed and that gives them the flavour, also cooked on a spit keeps the juices in. I agree they are better than anything in uk

I think the olive oil is sometimes infused with herbs such as rosemary or a concoction of various herbs and left to marinate for a considerable time, may also add flavour.

Just to reply to your question about the chicken flavouring, when I was in Marianos one night I saw them adding some mayo to the chicken oil at the bottom of the spit and when serving they poured some over the chicken and it was absolutely amazing!!!! :D

My partner & I love the chicken from the markets. Is this the same? We visit Beni about twice a year (last time didn't count I was ill) and always visit the Tuesday market just for the chicken.

Hi Lucy. Its just past the Ocas, next door to the Piccadilly bar.
You can eat in or take away 24/7. Cheap and cheerful, but loads of Spanish eat in there so must be ok.
We use it mainly for take aways and its ideal for fresh baguettes.
Another good place for chicken is the OK cafe on the Mediterraneo (spl)
my B.I.L always said Mariono's was the best, but tried one from the OK and preferred that.

Another nice place for chicken is a small spainish place( sorry don`t know name)its opposite Agua Azul hotel. I`m sur they only sell chicken, chips and salad. We`ve had a take away from there and sat in as well, chicken to die for.
