I have been to Protaras many times and think Rockafellas is a good bar, and also I have had some good nights in the Ghetto Bar. Maybe you can help, one of the worst bars we went in was up on the left hand side towards Mcdonalds, it was on a corner and it used to have a little jeep outside Elvis would play there, it is driving me mad thinking of the name of it. If you turn left out of the Ketsios apartments on the back road and then cross over and go right at the 1st supermarket it was at the bottom on the corner, i asked for bacardi and coke one night, stating i would like proper bacardi, when i tasted it i could tell it was the local stuff, i had a right set too with the lady behind the bar, we walked out and have never been back in in the 7 times we have been back, it was a total rip off. do you know what the bar is called?
To me that sounds like Bells Bar, which is the bar i have worked in for the last 2 summers. Sorry your experiece wasn't a good one. When was it this happened?
I think that is the one, it was about 3 years ago, if there one thing i know it is proper Bacardi and that certainly wasnt, also my girlfriend had a tia maria and coke and that was the local stuff which i made crystal clear we didnt want. I was talking to the girls in Rockafellas and they had previously worked in the Love Boat and they said when you order a drink make sure you watch it being poured from the pumps as they tell you to sit down and they will bring it, but some times you get the dregs. Always while in the Getto they always asked whether you wanted local or imported spirits. Im sure a lot of the bars rip you off and are up to all sorts of scams, which spoils it for the geniune ones. I dont mind paying any amount as long as i get what i ask for.
So do you just go to Rockafellas and ghetto? I used to like ghetto as i am quite good friends with dj funkie who works there, but i think it is not as good as it used to be. Also Rockafellas is a good, they make you feel very welcome in there and the entertainment is good in there with Jimmy Spender.
A few years ago there used to be a bar man in the Ghetto, he used to get up and do like a wrap song, one night we were doing the congo in the main street this was before they did the main road. Rockafellas is my personal favourite, a chap who worked there opened a restaurant called Secret Garden on the top road with his english wife. I have not been for the last 2 years 7 times on the trot wore a bit thin, but i will return probably this september, staying in the Lantiana.
The secret garden is a good restaurant, I recommend the sunday roast, it is brilliant. I believe it has different owners now though.
Is bambos Restaurant still on the main drag this is one of my favourites, we have got to know the owner quiet well over the years, and i know he has got the one in Penera callea Apomero
I'm not sure, where abouts on the strip is it?
Just past the Sunrise Beach hotel on the left, going up towards mcdonalds the Corner house is my favourite. I am looking for some clean modern apartments in Penera, i used to have a run into Penera and none of them looked that good.
Have been going to Protaras for the last few years and until last year always thought the Ghetto was best but wasn't too impressed with it this time so started going to Bell's this year instead. Good party atmosphere, nice waiter and great music especially Country Roads and 500 miles which always got everyone going! Definitely the best at the moment. Keep up the good work!
I go twice a year and always go to Pernera. I now stay stay at Debbiexenia apartments and find them very good. Cheap and a very good deal.
Disco Dave will know my answer to the best bar as I always go to Bells. Greatest bar in Protaras and the best atmosphere.
Bambos is (was) one of our fave eateries, the site on the main drag is now an estate agents! We just moved on with them to Apomero! Same lovely staff & food.
Bambos was our favourite, he was a right charachter. One holiday we eat there 7 nights out of 14. One particular night they were very busy and were sat for 30 minutes nobody coming to us, he came over apologised and told us we could have free drinks and free suites of our choice. We only had a couple of beers and did not abuse it, he took us into the back and showed us the clay ovens were he cooked the Kleftiko. I will hopefully going to Protaras some tome in September as it is awesome. I am going to Fuerteventura in March and will start saving the pennies.
We ate at bambos on our last night, I wished we had tried it earlier as it was superb, rated it as highly as nicolas tavern.
gazz
i like the rockerfellas costa's and maria are so friendly last year sorted out a 50th birthday party for us in there restaraunt the island affair exellent food.
Are these bars all family friendly ?
Hi Alex uk, most of the bars in Protaras are very family friendly, the resort is like that to be honest, which is why i love it so much. If people want a hard core clubbing night out, they usually go downt the road to Ayia Napa
thanks for all the tips on the best bars in protaras
