Would also suggest you look at the Royal Salem in Sousse.

Having just looked at your pictures Graham I am forced to admit that your suggestion wins hands down. Even though PEK isn't my favourite area the hotel looks fantastic. As you know I never got to see it properly as only guests are allowed through the gates.

Going back to the Abou Sofiane in Sept folks Suits us fine. Good food and excellent staff.

the kathargo el kasar inbetween sousse and kantoui is excellent the staff are great and get everybody involved ideal for kids.Tunisia isnt like turkey most entertainment is hotel based and the area we visited isnt as geared up for the brits (full english,sky sports etc)english is spoken but french is the main language along with arabic and we found it to be very european with tourists from all over not mainly bitish which is in my opinion a bonus.It is cheaper than turkey outside the hotels (or maybe it was cheaper because we visited in december).we would visit again no problem the only drawback was the gangs of russians /eastern europeans who were there they were extremely rude,arrogant and unfriendly they grabbed at all the dinner buffets then left most of it ,sneered at other guests and generally made everybody uncomfortable staff included.
