You would be better to change some sterling into lira before you go so you will have it for the few things you may need to get you set,I get mine from my bank ,ordered the day before ,always worked for me.

When in Icmeler we always change our money at the small supermarket next to what was the Famous Kitchen,He always gives the best rate.

This is the offical web site of the Turkish Central Bank. Before you change your money in Turkey,I would recommend you getting a print of the currency list at the Turkish Central Bank's website.Then No one/shop can offer you a lower change rate.

Change a small amount of sterling for Lira here at any credit union, When in Turkey change your sterling at any of the banks for the best rate.

Shop around when you get there you will find some places better than others ,think it is about 2.44 in turkey just now ,its lower here .

i only change money in local bars/restaurants as you normally get higher rate because they save pounds to cash in closed season and they get a better rate ,
and if you need more english money i use hsbc cash machine in icmeler as it gives pounds
