We love Candolim
Its quieter than than Baga & Calangute
I cant knock Baga and Calangute though cos anywhere you go its memorable

For us our best memory in Baga, we shared our sun bed and brolly with a cow and her baby
absolutely beautiful (oh sorry and our lunch, as them cows will eat anything he !he! and if you dont offer them they will help themselves.
!
In calangute you have the plantain leaf what an experience for food (veggie) although I am not one, thats the first place I am going for a good tasty meal and cost is usually about 30 rupees for a masala dosa
(40p0 AND ITS ENOUGH FOR 2 PEOPLE) PORTIONS ARE ENORMOUS...

They are all great but for my money it's Calangute because of all the resorts it's the one that is nearest to the real India, more vitality , more noise, more smells, more dirt, more India. Stand outside the likes of the Elephant shop in Candolim of an evening and all that walks past are tourists, stand outside the Chemists opposite the petrol pumps in Calangue main street and you know you are in India Alan

I've only ever stayed in Candolim (once) which is regarded by other forum members as quiet. If Candolim is quiet, then I hate to think what the other resorts such as Calangute are like. The noise in Candolim is constant, but I love it, already booked for 2 weeks in Jan 2007. :D :D

Hi Anita :D We usually stay at the marinha dourada in Arpora (near Baga) which is great. by day we go to the beach shack at baga. Its not overly busy like Calangute (which I prefer). However in the evening in middle Baga (the more central part) it is very busy and vibrant with lots of nice restaurants and bars.
We have 3 trips booked for goa for this winter. Our first trip November 12th we are staying in Candolim for a change. There are so many nice restaurants in Candolim we have still to try so we will see how it goes on our first trip to that resort. I think during the day (well most days) we will probably go to the Oceanic Beach Shack at Baga cos everyone is so friendly and we know most folk there, but we will try some on the Candolim area as well (recommend by other Hters of course!)
I think whichever resort you decide on you will not go wrong they are all fabulous and have their own special qualities. Let us know what you decide on. :wave

hi
not stayed in baga but have been to both calangute & candolim & found that we prefer the candolim end of calangute.does that make sense??? that was mainly cos of a few of the bars we liked to hang out in were located around there (nr the osbourne) but we still enjoyed staying in candolim too just used to head off to these watering holes in a taxi instead of walking.
it doesnt really matter where you stay anyway as all 3 resorts join together & a quick cheap taxi ride to anywhere in all three.

Prefer Calangute.....agree with Gramps here   Baga too seemed too touristy..although some good eating places. At Candolim..try the Stone House!!!

Lovely place for breakfast.....track to beach opposite Osborne Resort..beside Resorte Santa Antonio....follow track down to nearly the beach and on the right hand side ..Alysans. Family run...very friendly...superb food!
