couples
hmm depends
i stayed there for a few nights and nearly everything shut by midnight
what few bars that were open were over crowded and dirty!

Can only advise on a few of those categories

Couples - Santa Ponsa for couples looking for a lively beach resort, Cala D'or if looking for something a little quieter, Palma for a fantastic city break

Clubbers - Magaluf to be in the heart of the action, Palma Nova for a quieter base within walking distance of the liveliest areas

It's unfortunate you didn't enjoy your stay. My wife and I and members of our family have visited multiple times in each year since 1999, sometimes staying for a month. I don't recognise the resort you describe.

Puerto Pollensa is a beautiful resort, if anything I would say it's upmarket and I think it's ideal for couple's and family's and anyone wanting a relaxing break. I would also say the same for Cala d'Or :)

I agree that Puerto Pollensa is good for families on the whole but if you're looking for a resort with lot's for younger kids to do in the evening (for example restaurants with children's play areas/bouncy castles etc) then it's not ideal.
The best resort I've come accross for that kind of thing is Sa Coma.
I suppose this will always be a problem with general recomendations like this resort is ideal for families or that resort is ideal for couples etc.
What one family would call the perfect resort another might say is too comercialised or too quiet.

Yes I agree having been to Sa Coma that it is more geared towards family's with younger children and I would say that Cala d'or has more going on for younger families too. I guess as far as reviews go it's always going to be a case of what's one man's meat is another man's poison but I do think they give you a good insight of a resort or accommodation before you make that final booking :)

Puerto Pollensa is a lovely resort - I have been going there for nearly 20 years, really don't have a bad word to say about it.

I'm looking for a nice, family friendly but authentic Spanish hotel for me and my 9 year old son for May half term. I want scenic, nice pool, "real spain" and nice sandy beaches. Pref HB for budgetting, and would like evening entertainment that is interesting not just getting toddlers doing silly dances. And somewhere I'll feel safe and welcome as single parent. We liked Hotel Simar in CSV a few years ago but want somewhere new. Any suggestions?
