We must respect the local people and their way of life.
I dont think it is to much to ask some people to cover up when going into a building.

i could never walk into a shop just wearing a bikini or worse ...less i always put a pair of shorts on and a t shirt

Respect that is what most people want, bothways, we ask it from the Turkish people and indeed we get it, why cant our lot show some in return.
I am 100% in favour of this, it doesnt take a lot to throw a Tshirt or something on surerly people are not that intolerant of the heat, Especialy in restraunts it is one of my pet hates,I certainly dont want to look at someones spotty sweaty greasy back whilst I am eating, it is ignorant. My wife and I would never dream of going inside any building without covering the top part of our bodies
I know some are going to pipe up with the evergreen comment.
" We are on holiday" we can do what we want.
These people wont alter their ignorant ways,
But a lot of people will not be aware of this rather delicate situation.and possably take it on board

I agree 100%. I love to wear my bikini on the beach or by the pool but there is no way I would walk around the street or go into a shop or restaurant wearing it, not only would I feel uncomfortable doing so I would also be aware that other people could feel uncomfortable too.

People should use a bit of common sense really. I mean would they go shopping in Tescos in a bikini?

i totally agree too, last year i saw a british woman in migros with about 3 kids in tow inc 1 in a buggy, about size 24-28 ish so huge with tattoos all over her and wearing the shortest tight shorts and bikini top and she was getting stared at and i felt ashamed to be british, everything was hanging out , i think theres a time and a place to wear swimwear when you are in another country and in a shop or supermarket isnt the place, you need to respect the people from that country

I agree with this, who would want to go shopping in their bikini. The hotels i have been in in Turkey and in Egypt would not allow you in the reception or lobby in swim wear. They also had adress code for dinner.

Personally I don't approve of people in hotel dining rooms who cannot cover up (often men with no shirts). Its not a hard task to pop a t shirt on whilst in dining areas.

Bikinis should be kept for pool and beachwear.

Agree totally with the ban, bikinis and swimsuits are fine for the beach or pool but not for wandering around in supermarkets,restaurants etc. I personally wouldn't do it,even in the apartments this year i always stuck my shorts & vest top on when going to eat at pool bar etc.

I totally agree with the ban. I thought it was just Europeans and Brits in particular who behaved in this way however I was on the dolmus a few weeks ago and 3 Turkish teengers got on with very brief bikini tops and beach wraps. I was very surprised.

I also agree with the ban 100% but I also think that some of the men out they should cover up a little more as well, because you do see them walking around with nothing on there top halves, I,ve got nothing against it but not in supermarkets etc.

I've seen women (and men) at the Migros in Gumbet/Bodrum being refused entry to the store because the women don't have their bikini tops covered, and the men have no tops on. No top, no shopping.

I totally approve of this measure in supermarkets.

I also saw a woman being refused entry to Migros in Marmaris because she had a bikini top on. It was a few years ago so don't know if it's still the same. I agree it's one thing at the pool/beach but don't think it's nice to see men or woman half naked in bars or restaurants.

I always put my top on when i go into a large supermarket,although i tend not to do it when going into a small shop or having a drink in a bar or restaurant(during the day i might add).

Migros in Marmaris have been doing this for the last 3 years, Fortunately for me I had my T-shirt in the car, It was 50 degrees outside in the sun, By the time I walked back to the car with shopping my T-shirt was soaking wet, So no I dont agree with this, And Turkey will not make this a law as they certainly dont want to offend Tourists in anyway whatsoever.

...But what about the locals being offended, after all this is a muslim country... have to say im for it!

I can't believe that people wouldn't put a t shirt or whatever on to go inside a public building like a store or a restaurant. I wouldn't go in Tesco in this country or a nice restaurant in a bikini (assuming we had the weather to wear one), so why would I do it anywhere else?? And I would/do alter what I wear in whatever country/region I'm in, if what I wear is likely to be considered offensive by the general population there. Either that, or I'd just go somewhere where what I want to wear is acceptable.
