Aww thanks Sue for remembering it's my birthday today. :kiss

The weather was fantastic yesterday, in the 80's, but today it's a lot cooler and been raining on and off all day.
We've never stopped still since we got here, so today has been a relaxing time, we are going up into the old town tonight for a meal.

I've never seen so many people in Benidorm, that's probably because of the dates of the "fallas" and Easter clashing this year, but yesterday the streets and the beach were jam packed...last night it was standing room only, chose where you went.
We went up into the old town last night and you just couldn't move, I spent quite some time jostling for a good position to film the "brotherhood" procession as they came from the church and onto the "walking street", then later I caught them returning back from the route around the old town and back to San Jaime church.

Then after a quick drink, we made our way to Plaza de Hispanidad to see the effigies being burnt and the small firework display, there were thousands upon thousands of people and kiddies on the streets, but they were running late and we were stood around for absolutely ages, so much so, that the crowd began whistling and slow hand clapping.

I caught it all on film, so will make a video on my return.
We walked back to the hotel around 2 am and there were still hundreds of people on the Avda Mediterraneo and fireworks/crackers going off.....it was a really good night and I'm glad the weather was kind to them.

The procession was just as I remember it from years ago, it's a strange thing to say, but the "brotherhood" costume is very "intimidating", it's like the Klu Klux Clan ...only in black.

I'm going to try and film dove park in the daytime, from what I saw of it last night, it looks very very good....the "point" is now closed off for renovation.

Righty ho, I'd better go and wake Dave up or he won't sleep tonight, then get ready for my big Birthday bash in the old town with my friend, in the restaurant where she sings jazz.

bye for now.....

Hi Taggy
I had a lovely Thai meal at a restaurant called Paris-Bangkok on Calle Maravall, up in the old town, near the police station/cine, it's only a small place, but the food was good.
My friend sings jazz there on certain nights a week, but last night her son who is a saxophonist in Barcelona, he came home for easter and with another guy on keyboard, they did a jazz jamming session....having "happy birthday" sang jazz style is "different" :rofl

Today we had a walk around town in the Rincon area and although the sun was shinning there has been a cold wind blowing, going to have dinner in the hotel tonight and then probably go back up into the old town for a few hours, there's more atmosphere up there.
Oh I'm in the Regente.BTW.

Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes and Benidorm has certainly been the best place to celebrate it, this week.

Been a good day here, there was a bit of a breeze blowing, but unlike the other day, it was a warm breeze....we walked up to the old town this morning to film Dove park.

Film it.? it was chocka block with people and you couldn't move to get a good shot.
Part of the park is dedicated to children with a few play areas, swings, slide and a climbing frame, but the further you walk into the park at the far end, they have dedicated this to an adults playground....actually there is tubular steel aparatus positioned for adults to do a bit of exercise.
I can't see that being used by the pensioners and in 6 months it will probably be wrecked....at the moment it's novel and a few were trying the aparatus out, but they didn't stay more than a few minutes on it....beggar that, it looked like hard work.
We took a steady walk back this afternoon on the promenade, it was lovely walking by the sea with the breeze and the sun has given me some colour, I was as white as a ghost when I got here, but my feet are killing me now....Hubby is talking about having a walk up to the cross again tomorrow :bawl....I don't think so, but we'll see what my feet are like in the morning and the weather of course.

Just an update regarding buying antibiotics in the resort, I tried to buy some Amoxicillin from a farmacia in the Rincon area, at the end of the Avda Mediterraneo....no chance, prescription only via a doctor....I then tried the 24 hour one further down the Avda Mediterraneo as we were passing, no problem, in fact not only did they sell me 4 packets of antibiotics, they also sold me a new antibiotic that they are "pushing" for upper and lower respiratory infections, sinusitis, ear infections, throat infections and similiar, which consist of a course of just 3 tablets, one taken once a day....forgot the name at the moment, well I've forgotten how to spell it to be honest. :rofl...price just under 10 euros....I'll check the spelling and the info about them later.

So, being able to buy antibiotics all depends on which Farmacia you try....some are adhering to the law, others are not.
That's all for now....I'd better go find my other half.
