Thanks Darren, very helpful. I think Bitez sounds lovely. We have 2 teenage boys so hope it wouldnt be too quiet in the peak season.
Bitez is a lovely resort and seems to fit your requirements perfectly - and you can always treat them to a night out in Gumbet if they something a bit livelier.
It was their first time to Turkey and were only back 1 day then booked 2 weeks for next year.
They said there was plenty to keep the children occupied.
I have been to Side in March and May and found everything open as its a year round resort.
I visited Bitez in May whilst I was in Gumbet and found it very quiet.
How old are your children?
Is Bitez the place I am looking for? or is it just a quieter version of Marmaris/Bodrum/Icemeler? If so, Im going to book Greece again.
Ta
Bitez is certainly not a small version of Marmaris or Bodrum, it is a small quietish resort with a few shops, plenty of nice restaurants and a decent beach but I think if you want to sample a real Turkish resort then somewhere like Ortakent or Gumusluk may be more what you are looking for, they cater more for Turkish people than British so you will find a different atmsophere there.
most of the british hotels in Side are a taxi ride or a decent walk out of the resort itself.
In Bitez ALL the hotels are within 2-300 yds of the beach/centre (can hardly call it a centre really!)
