we have just booked up to go all inclusive to the bluebay in marmaris. after reading some of the reviews on here i am so worried, even to a point of maybe changing the whole holiday .can anyone maybe give me a honest opinion of this hotel as to what it will be like for my 9year old son.

blue bays is a good hotel in a good location.. there seems to be plenty going on but for me a little overcrowded. The pool was big but sunbeds seem to be at a premium. I dont like all inclusives myself but there seemed to be a lot there that do.
They said the food would run out very quickly on a morning and that they didn't replace it.
Blue Bays also have bell boys who do the running around for you but then stand with their hand out wanting a tip everytime it got very expensivse
They said the beds had only been changed once in a week and they had to do it!
There wasn't enough sunbeds for people staying in the hotel.
The hotel toliets weren't clean at all with used toliet paper all over them.
The hotel looks posh from the outside and the inside is very nice and as Chelsea boy has said it is in a good area with the beach only a couple of minutes walk away.
There are lots of bars and resturants in the area.
If you want to get away from all the noise and have a quite drink then when you come out of your hotel turn right follow the road down as far as you can then turn left towards to the beach then go right and walk up a little while past the beach. There are some lovely resturants and bars up there.
I can higly recommend ..... Bobby's beach,his resturant is ....
The DEMiR Bar and Restaurant.....
with lovey food and the staff so friendly.
I don't like all inclusive myself as i feel it restricts you from getting out and about.

We went to Blue Bays in May this year, half board, with our kids aged 13, 11, 10 and 2 - they all loved it there - the pool area is great, and there is a pool with a big slide (that we didnt realise belonged to the Blue Bays, next to the self catering apts) our kids were in there all day! There were loads of kids there, so I am sure your son will make loads of friends, and really enjoy himself.
The food was OK, but not much variety (although I did enjoy the salad stuff) The kids enjoyed it, and they liked being able to go back and refill their plates.
Breakfast was toast your own bread, eggs either boiled or scrambled, beans, tomatoes, chips! and really horrible sausages, cheese, different cereals, fruits, and yoghurt - we usually had toast with jam, cereal and fruit which we all enjoyed - I think they finished breakfast at 10, we didnt have a problem with food running out - they did refill it when we were there.
The pool bar did nice snacks during the day, but the drinks were very expensive - they were charging 3 lira each for the small plastic cups of cola - we did like to spend most of the days around the pool area, so the AI guests gained there.
We didnt much rate the evening entertainment (not totally dire, but not our taste) so we went out every night.
*We found the hotel to be very clean, we had room service every day, and the maids changed the beds several times during our stay (and made them very nicely every day!!)
*The bell boys only helped us with our cases on arrival and departure, they never bothered us any other time - we didnt find them to be expecting tips each time, but we obviously did tip, as with four kids, the help was greatly appreciated!
*We have never been anywhere on holiday that had enough sunbeds, and this hotel was no different - although if people didnt hog them with their towels to save for when they get back from shopping, I am sure that this wouldnt be a problem...
We wouldnt go AI or HB again to any hotel, as we felt tied to the hotel, and probably even more so if we had been AI.
All in all we had a great holiday, and booked to go to Turkey again next year as soon as we got home! We are going self catering next time, £1000 cheaper and we can chose what, when and where to eat!
I am sure you will have a great holiday - there were a few families there when we went who were AI that had been to Blue Bays before.
Oh, just one thing - there were no tea/coffee making facilities in the HB rooms - I cant do without my coffee in the morning, and had to hire a kettle from reception, it cost a fortune - I would take a cheap £5 kettle from home, and some cheap cups, then leave them there to make space in your suitcase for the bargains you are sure to be bringing back with you

What did you think of the area that Blue Bays is in??
We have been to Marmaris about 5 times now and i felt this was the best area we have stayed in.
The beach was only minutes away, there where good bars/restaurants in the area, noisy bars to your left and quite bars to your right.
We wouldn't go to any other part of Marmaris now.
Will tell you which we prefer next year!
We're off to Club Candan in May, it is near to the market, so at the other end of Marmaris.
We really enjoyed our first holiday in Turkey, and thought the location of the Blue Bays was great, although I arent too bothered about being close to the beach, I prefer the pool (cant stand the sand!!!)
Tracey
I know people who have stayed at the Club Candan and they loved it.
As it only opened this year things are still nice and new.
There are plenty of bars in that area and the marina area is about a 10 minute walk. There is a mosque very close to Candan so you may need ear plugs!! mind you i found 2 or 10 Raki's and i didn't hear a thing!!
We have never been lovers of the beach but this year we had no option as the hotel we stayed at had a pool the size of a bath with no sun round it!!
We stayed in Goldstone the next door to the Blue Bays.
The brochure still had the computer drawing in when we booked it, but thanks to the great reviews on here we are really looking forward to it!
Will take your advice about the Raki's!
I didnt notice the hotel where you stayed when we were there, but there are loads of hotels around, and to be honest I didnt really take much notice of any of them! I always make sure that there is a BIG pool wherever we go on holiday, that is top of the list!! We were a bit disappointed this year that the sun did move away from the baby pool by about 2.00pm, leaving me sunbathing in the shade but hey, we still enjoyed the holiday!
weather wasnt up to much so we didn't go down by the pool once, preferred to go down the beach for the odd drink or two!
its in a great location, literally 5 minute walk if that an your there.
we had a bit of a trauma though. the weather was awful in october, a real storm there was. after coming home from a night out we walked in to the room and it was completely flooded. literally ankle deep. we couldn't believe it. everywhere and everything was flooded.
we went straight down to the reception and they came up to the room with us, i don't think they believed how bad it was till they saw it for themselves. he tried to get someone to clean it up but he said it was impossible and that we couldn't stay there. he moved us to another room to sleep in, a studio. they were really small so i wouldn't like staying there on a non-self catering board.
anyway the next morning we went to reception and they said we had to pack all our stuff up and that we were getting moved to another room. so we had to pack everything up, which was a real nuisance. clothes which were in the case were completely soaked through.
anyway they moved us to a 2 bed roomed room which was big, so that was a plus! and they wahsed and dried all the clothes which had been damaged free of charge. lucky for me my case was on the bed but my friends was on the floor in the living room!
we found out that it was only our room that had been damaged so we were just unlucky i guess.
it had even come through all the walls they were full of damp.
but even though we had all this inconvenience, it is still a nice hotel and i would stay here again. A lot of people would probably be put off going again with what happened to us but i would definitely give it another go!
p.s. sorry i think i got a bit carried away there didn't i! I wrote so much! x
has anyone stayed at the blue bays hotel marmaris on a ai basis as there are few things i would like to know. After reading some awful reviews about the food does anyone know what the food is like.
I would also like to know how the ai works at this hotel as the website for the hotel says that the resturant opens at 9.00am so what would happen about breakfast do we have to go to the sister hotel blue bays deluxe.
Are we allowed to use the blue bays deluxe hotel.
thanks
hi does anybody know if the cocktails are in with the fully inclusive or do you pay extra
so we never bothered. Delux had great reports .
Can anyone comment on what kind of food they serve ie turkish or english. We do prefer the local cusine whilst away but its not that important as we will eat out as well.
Can any one comment on the drinks that are available on the all inclusive.
Also do they do snacks, if so what kind are they and are they includded in the all inclusive.
Sorry to ask alot of questions but any info is much appreciated.
The Green Nature hotel and Gran Pasa hotel are All Inc in Marmaris and are way better than the Blue Bay hotel
Thanks but not sure if they are open at easter.
Hi ,We have had to change our original booking, We are now going to stay at the Blue Bays Delux Spa in Marmaris 21 Set-05 Oct,Can any member give me some feedback on the hotel, We are AI so what's the drinks and food like and also the beach,Any info will be appreciated,
Does anyone know if you can keep your room on the last day and if so how much they charge. Thanks Christine
We have booked to go to the above hotel on an all inclusive basis, and I just want an idea of its location.
I'm aware it is on the main road and close to the beach, but I just can't picture its location. Is it near the Mcdonalds on the main road, or is it further ahead towards the harbour area?
Regards
Nicola
