Pirate Boat Trip
Everyone made an effort by either wearing an eye patch, sporting hooks and wooden legs and more muskets and cutlases to fill an armoury
This goup of Buccaneers left the ICR offices at about 9-30 am, all intent on having a good time.
We travelled to Marmaris in a small bus got dropped off at the harbour then boarded our pirate vessel.
Everyone had loads of room to stretch out because there was only about 24 pirates on the boat.
The day passed visiting the cave, fish farm,we had swim stops and a fantastic lunch, with as much as you could eat.
Some of the pirates who had done naughty things were made to ride the ringos,John getting all this on film.
The stop in Turunc was an afternoon to remember.
We all got off the boat and walked through the centre of Turunc, all dressed up in our pirate gear.
Shopkeepers came out of thier shops and gazed in awe as this bunch of skirvy cut-throats ambled through thier town.
We arrived at the Tavern (Bar 48) and ordered our grog.
In the tavern Phil gave his rendition of "From Paris To Berlin" surely he is a star in the making.
Buxom wenches were plentifull.
Donna led the dancing helped by Joanne.
People were stopping outside and even entering the bar to try and become part of the "ICR Buccaneers"
We had a fantastic day out with forum members it was a pleasure to meet you all.
Joanne my daughter summed it all up on the last leg of our sea voyage back to Icmeler,
As everyone was gazing up towards the warm sun gently carresing our faces she said.
"This Is What Memories Are All About"
The Jeep Safari.
One of the most exciting days out has got to
be the jeep safari to see The Blue Fish. The only time I have seen these timid creatures is on the jeep safaris from Icmeler.
Most trips do the waterfall and the carpet factory along with all the obligatory water fights but these jeep safaris gives us a chance to try and catch a rare view of these freaks of nature indiginouse to the Bozburun Penninsular.
Their habitat is among the deeper water near the river banks were the trees give some shade and cover.
It was not possible to see them this May due to the cold water temperatures and too much cloud cover, but on previous visits during the warmer summer months 2 or 3 jeeps full of tourists would park up near the river.
Leaving behind our water pistols and bottles and all thoughts off water fights dispelled as we set off walking down the river to confront nature at her quirkiest.
Ankle deep in water we slowly and quietly paddled our way towards the small breeding area.
There was no sound except for the water gurgling over a few rocks and stones that were in its path as it gently meandered on its way.
Birds call out to each other, warning that strangers are entering their world.
The guide stops and beckons us to an area of deeper water, trees lining the river with overhanging branches, the sun glinting through the leaves and sunbeams dancing on the water.
We all quietly move to the area were the guides are trying to coax out a small shoal of these shy elusive creatures into our sight.
A voice at the back whispers "I cant see anything",The secret is you have to get to the front,be patient and the reward of peering into the depths will surely be rewarded.
Everyone left happy, myselfe I felt humble, also a feeling of exhileration that I had just witnessed something that most people never experience on a normal jeep safari and that is the phenomena that is " The Blue Fish".
Gypsy Beach
Setting off at about 10-30am in the morning,a small group of about 10 of us set off for a pleasant day out to Gypsy Beach not far from Hisaronu.
We travelled along the Datca road, turning off at the Hisaronu sign and threaded our way along the narrow lanes until we arrived at Gypsy Beach.
We arrived at this lovely tranquil beach with beautifull views of the surrounding mountains, and in the far disance we could see the Greek island of Symi.
Our base on the beach was a little restaurent serving the Cub Rena a small holiday complex made up of small wooden chalets.
We had the use of the Club Rena pool and surrounding scatter cushions,as well as the sunbeds and sunshades on the beach.
The day was layed back, everyone enjoying the sun and gentle breeze off the sea.
Lunch was taken at the restaurent, and Ann and myselfe chose chicken on a skewer with pasta and chips with a side salad and of course this was all washed down with a pint of ice cold Efes.
The meal and drinks were all extra to the cost of the trip.
We decided before we all left this idylic place that we would experience the "Sun Setting" behind the distant mountains that Chelsea Boy had told us so much about.
At about 6-50pm we all posistioned ourselves in a place were we thought each of us could get a good picture.
As the sun began to set, everything seemed to go calm, there was hardly any sound except for the waves gently lapping the seashore.
For a short moment everything seemed to standstill, the sky went red,the sea also gave the impression of being "On Fire"
Everyone looked at each other, each wanting this sight never to end.
Who had got the best picture?,
what we all did agree on was that we had all experienced a most beautifull scene.
Boarding our small bus we headed back to Icmeler and within 30mins we were being dropped of at the ICR office.
A remarkable day out and one to remember and all this for just £6 each.
Day Trip To Akyaka.
One of The trips we did last year was to a little town on the Gokova Bay called Akyaka.
It was only an hour from Icmeler and on the way we stopped at a couple of rock tombs from days gone.
Arriving in Akyaka was as I imagined it, a beautifull little village with this magnificent backdrop of mountains.
Having an harbour area and the Azmac river running into the bay over which river is a rustic wooden bridge, this has got to be a photographers paradise.
Fish restaurents lined the pretty promenade and one step and you were on to the beach area, were sunbeds and brollies were in abundence.
2 beds and 1 brolly 4ytl.
The beach shelved gently into the sea and you could walk out 150mtrs before having to swim, this was great for Andre and he loved jumping and diving into the waves.
We left Akyaka at 3.30 arriving Icmeler 4.30,oh I wish we had that beach and sea at Icmeler.
Then they havent got any "3 Bells" "Lion Bar" "Majestic Boys" etc, or do they actualy desire them? I think not, this is a resort for those who like peace and tranquilityand that is what reigns in this Turkish resort.
Boat Trip Round Gokova Bay.
Gokova Bay covers the magnifcent scenery of the gulf of Gokova whom Jaques Cousteue rates the pristine condition of the sea and beaches as the finest in Europe.
Visit English Harbour were boats off the English Fleet used to hide during the war.
Take photographs of the little mermaid a small sculptor in such a vast sea.
The scenery round this area is stunning so please take your cameras
Cleopatras Island A gift to Cleopatra from Mark Anthony.
White sands, old ruins,
Some people say three and a half hours is to long to spend here,
How long would you like to spend in Heaven.
I would reccomend taking plenty of water with you although I do understand that a cafe is on the Island.
Jeep Safari To Oranihiye
How many of you when going on the jeep safari have had the chance to call at Oranhiye and had the chance of "Walking On Water"
Oranhiye is a little village with sunbeds, a couple of restaurents and a camel you can ride, but is better known for a 150 mtr stretch of sandbank that sweeps out into the bay.
Legend goes that when pirates attacked this village, one particular maiden filled the front of her dress with sand and sprinkled it into the sea trying to make a path for her escape.
Unfortunately her sand ran out, sooner than face the raping and pillaging pirates she threw hereselfe off the sandbar and was drowned.
Another story is that if any maiden walks to the end of the sandbank and returns she will go home a virgin.
Hidden Lakes and Akyaka
Our morning started early at 9am when we were all picked up at the Antik Bar and proceeded to this little place just outside of Marmaris for our breakfast.
The restaurent was in a tranquil setting with large grounds and had streams, ponds, fish, hens and cockerals and loads of wellcoming shade.
All our breakfast was either grown or produced within the local village.
The breakfast consisted of Pita bread with butter and honey, cheese with olives Eggs Sausage, apricots and nuts tea and water,
more than anyone could eat.
After spending a relaxing hour at the restaurent we moved on to the hidden lakes.
Now if the restaurent was relaxing then this national park is just pure chill.
For those who just wanted to lay on the hamocks and recover from the previouse evenings excertions.
For others there were loads of walks round the lakes or down to the sea or even a spot of fishing.
Drinks were taken on this seating area on the lake were we watched terrapins, fish and I even saw a Kingfisher.
After a wonderfull relaxing time here we dragged ourselfes away and moved on to Akyaka.
The beach was very busy but we all got sunbeds, most people went into the sea
which shelves gently for well over a hundred yards so paddling is a pleasure.
We had lunch in this very nice restaurent on the seafront consisting of a chicken wrap and soft drink, quite sufficiant in the middle of the day.
After a couple of hours in Akyaka we made our way back to Icmeler passing the rock tombs just outside of Akyaka.
We then called in this quaint Turkish cafe were we had the choice of soft drinks or Ayran, after tasting Sharons Ayran I was glad I chose a coke.
We had a wonderfull day out.
A completely different experience to what I usualy encounter on my holidays.
Would I reccomend it? the answere is "Yes".
Special thanks to Sharon who acted as our guide and was so informative with her information.
Special thanks also to our fellow travellers who made a special day,
Extra Special.

on the Beach front you will find plenty of people advertising boat trips which are very cheap also a place called Erekoy on the back road this company is very reasonable, we used them for all our trips last year and would higly recommend them
We always go with icmelertravelcentre.com, owned by scottish lady
Carol Gondon, they do trips, transfers, accom, car hire, all fully insured,
book online or in resort, her shop is in the centre of Icmeler & the website
has a Uk phone number as well,,
Back in Icmeler this September ourselves!
We went on Carol's boat (Icmelertravelcentre)last year and it was fantastic, would recomend it, they only take a certain number of guests so everyone has a seat and a sunbed and you don't get squashed in like sardines, tends to go to bays that other boats don't go to,is all inclusive and very nice meal, would definately go on that boat again.
Another nice out with Carol Icmeler Travel Centre was to Akyaka which cost £6 return. Enough time for a swim and lunch before coming back at 4. I think also in summer she does one to Datca.
Book your trips via the many shops that sell them everywhere, As it's cheaper to do so.
Thanks again for the great advice
I have had a look at the Icmeler Travel Centre website
The trips look great my daughter particulally interested in the horse riding
We have decided to wander down to the shop on our 1st day and book what we want for the week there
Thanks again for all the info
Kitten
we found lots of places do trips, icmeler online and icmeler travel centre, their trips are covered by insurance,
Right I have used both Icmeler Travel Centre (Carol - Scottish Lady) and IcmelerOnline (Rami) and well they are both great and both have great trips although I would say Icmeleronline are better with customer service and customer care and will go that extra mile or two miles to make sure you have a good time on your trip transfer holiday whatever and will sort out any problems if they occur which they dont normally. With Icmeler Travel Carol (when shes there) can be a bit well take it or leave it as if well Im not bothered if you book with me or not, but that doesnt alter the fact that her boat trip and jeep safari are great but I have never had cause for complaint on Carol's trips so can't really say but that is the impression she gives me everytime we book with her and we have been going to Icmeler for 7/8 years now and used Icmeleronline for the first time last year and despite having a problem with our transfer booked trips with them quad biking and horse riding and they were brilliant service 2nd to none and well you are made to feel welcome from the time you arrive at their offices to the time you leave. Pity we dont have that sort of customer care in the UK shame
