I havent been to Hurghada, but generally all coastal resorts are extremely hot in the summer months, bearing in mind December is in the 70s.

Buy total sun block for your kids or 40+ and wear 30+ for yourselves. Buy sun glasses and hats and keep the children out of the mid day sun, or let them rest under the shade of the umbrellas. Drinking plenty of bottled water is paramount due to dehydration.

The temps will be well over a 100 degrees, but on the beach fronts you should get a nice breeze.

Enjoy your holiday :fly

Michelle.

Ps... forgot to mention t.shirts for covering up.

Reviews on the hotel can be found HERE if you haven't seen them. It's best for the kids to wear a t-shirt whilst swimming, as they could burn pretty quickly without realising.

Please take note of what Derwentrocker says! We have been to Egypt many times but have just returned from our first time in august. It was really hot! No need to worry but , as you say, keep the kids in the water, with a t-shirt on, plaster the sun block all over them and make them And yourselves drink gallons of water!

Its still the best place in the world for a holiday!

Hiya! I have just eturned from my first trip to Egypt. We went the first week of August but left the children with their grandparents for our first holiday on our own ever! Although we stayed in Sharm, temps will be similar, and in the day in the sun expect temps of around 50 degrees c. It isn't as bad as it sounds tho, as like you say the kids wil be in the sea/pool a lot. We definitely were as it is too hot to lay in for more than about 20 mins!

Although we didn't take our kids with us, I would love to take them at some point as we had a great time. As another member mentioned it is vital to keep them drinking water, but as it's so hot I'm sure this will be natural anyway. Also as I spent a lot of time snorkelling I managed to burn my bottom which is something no-one warned me about! For a couple of days I had to wear shorts and T-shirt to swim in and I don't normally burn that easily! My advice would be to get the 6 year old one of those swim sun suits. And the 9 year old if he'd wear one!

Have a great time!

Thanks everyone we are really looking forward to going, i tend to put factor 50 on the children so its us that will need high factor my husband burns but i just go very brown though i have heeded the warnings and will def go for a high factor, the kids always wear those special sun swimming costumes so that should be ok, even the 9 year old as they do shorts and top that looks like surfing gear, Will def drink lots of water and ive seen on here its cheaper to buy outside the hotel so will do that though doesnt look like you spend much anyway, and tips on how much to tip as never had to do that before also anyway of finding out if the hotel has air conditioning as its 5star i presume it does but doesnt mention it in the brochure and no one says anything on the reviews( i presume if i didnt then that would show up on the review as everyone would of sweltered at night  )

Hi

Don't worry you will have a fab time.

We were in Hurghada for 2 weeks in July with our 2 and 6 year olds. We found the weather to be fab as there was always a slight breeze to keep you cool. Its not humid either so even though its hot it never felt too hot or muggy.

The kids loved the weather and like you I had my youngest in his UV suit all day and my 6 year old would wear hers when required. I had them plastered in the Boots factor 40 and Pizz Buin all day long stuff, but we did reapply it and no one burnt.

We went to Sharm June the year before and although it seamed slightly hotter there we again didn't find it too hot.

We took the kids there own mugs this year and so they could just help themselves to drink so we never had to worry about them not drinking enough.

Have a great trip

Hi all

I'm taking my 2 kids with us in May to Sharm - CSR 6yrs and 2yrs . This may sound daft but as they both have UV Suits do I also have to put suncream under these

My grandchildren all wear the UV sun suits and we only put sun cream on the bits that are not covered such as face, lower legs and arms. They also have the UV hats with a flap on the back that protects the neck.
