Just been phoned today at 4.00pm by Thomas Cook (who we booked our holiday with in febuary) that our hotel will be undergoing "substantial" building work for the fortnight we are there. We are there from the 8th of july to the 22nd of july, this building work will take place around the pool area and there will be distruption fom noise and mess around this area, the hotel will try to keep this to a minimum. We are going to our local branch tomorrow to discuss the matter, they have told us they may be able to move us to an other hotel but if it is more expensive we will have to make up the diffrence. Can we cancel or claim compensation as we have already paid the transport costs from Glasgow to Manchester (where we fly from) and also the return journey. We have also paid for other things ie kennels for the dogs etc and if we cancel and dont get the same dates elsewhere we will have to pay for them.
Unsure of what rights we have, dont want to cancel holiday as have been looking forward to it all year, but dont want to spend two weeks at the pool with a JCB in the sun lounger next to me.
Any advise would be great thanks.
